No, a mediocre source is not better than no source[edit]

The problem with trying to use https://www.discogs.com/Andra%C3%A9-Crouch-The-Disciples-Keep-On-Singin/master/75220 to source the fact the song first appeared in 1972 by Crouch on a specific album is that it does not support the claim. While the album was released in 1971, it may have appeared on someone else's album before that, or it may even have appeared on a single. All it supports is that it's the first album that Crouch was also on. A simple, direct statement is needed. Walter Görlitz (talk) 06:38, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree, Walter. The simple, direct statement you seek quite likely does not exist. An available source of substandard quality should be utilized until better information surfaces, IF it does. Discogs is used on many song articles as a supplemental source. Removing it leaves the article all but unreferenced, which is not constructive. - JGabbard (talk) 13:59, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
So, based on the evidence on-hand, the best we can say is that the first time that Crouch recorded it was on that album. So change the wording and supply the poor reference. Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:07, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
