Nomenclature[edit]

Chapter Titles[edit]

I'm reading Taruby's scanlations of the manga, but some of the chapter titles are different than the ones stated here. Most are just different (but valid) translations but some are not as close. ex: Chapter 5: here it is 'The Thing You Want to Protect'. Taruby: 'Someone I Want to Protect'. Chapter 6: here it is 'Nobody Said That'. Taruby: 'Don't Tell Anyone'. Which ones should we use? Linkforlife 04:40, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose we should go with Taruby's. After all, most of the chapter titles I added are garnered from private help and have even less credibility (insofar as the citing and reference conventions are concerned) than the publicly-available (and thus open to critique and commentary) resource that is Taruby's. --Warp L. Message to Linkforlife and Warp L. Obscura regarding Mai Otome chapter 5 title -

Okay so the title could go either way since the manga title uses hiragana for the word "mono" in the chapter title. See, "mono" has two definitions. One definition means 'Person' while the other also translates to 'Thing.' Both versions of "Mono" have two different kanji which I will provide:

Thing - Mono 物

Person - Mono 者

Like I had mentioned, the chapter title uses *NEITHER* kanji and just uses the simple form of Hiragana making the definition, either/or. So either translation is correct. --Lonewolfkuga 21:16, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I never said that the old one was wrong, I just said there were some differences. In the context of the story, however, I think it is safe to assume the meaning is supposed to be person. Linkforlife 22:10, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The hiragana meant for the text to be vague so perhaps it would be better to include "What I want to protect" instead. I had to verify this with my grandmother since her native tongue is nihongo. --Lonewolfkuga 22:14, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Img comic01.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
