Steam[edit]

Excuse me, but Mutant Chronicles have almost nothing in common with steam age! Of course, it is retrofuture-fantasy, but the "retro" part is the lack of "thinking machines" (i.e. advanced computers and artificial intelligences that proved to be easily influenced by Dark Symmetry) but combustion engines and electric power are abundant. I think that classyfying "mutant Chronicles" as steampunk is a grave misunderstanding. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.27.1.187 (talk) 01:56, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I've made an attempt at clarification. CapnZapp (talk) 19:37, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I actually watched the movie, and it was most definitely influenced by steampunk. 98.247.32.199 (talk) 18:49, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I'm sorry but I reverted the steampunk category before looking on the talk page. My bad. I still feel that this is a steampunk film, but I need to watch the movie again to provide more evidence than the fact that it had steam powered machinery with designs that were clearly intended to be steampunk designs. I need to think about this more. I'm not sure if having any electric technology means a disqualification from the genre. Seffer (talk) 23:36, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

four corporations[edit]

The same (see Steam above) goes for the corporations of the game. While the film supposedly feature four, the rpg has five. Capitol, Bauhaus, Mishima and Imperial are supplemented by Cybertronic in the first edition and Sundiata in the (upcoming) second. CapnZapp (talk) 19:41, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

400 Years in the future[edit]

Is 400 years in the future really 23rd century? I'd say it was 25th ... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.106.47.142 (talk) 15:23, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the movie clearly states that the year is 2707, making it the 28th Century. Cybogoblin (talk) 01:53, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Where does it say that the year is 2707? As for "400 years into the future" it depends on what year they start from to 400 years later. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.224.105.134 (talk) 05:19, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
At the beginning of the movie, after the prologue, there is a title which gives the year. Cybogoblin (talk) 19:08, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The film has been released throughout Europe in an unfinished form[edit]

Eh? Really? Looked finished to me. What's this about? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.177.104.185 (talk) 08:41, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well actor Thomas Jane himself has said that the film unfinished. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.19.62.68 (talk) 03:45, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Released in 2008 outside USA[edit]

An interesting fact, according to IMDB[1], the film was released in a few countries in 2008, some mouths before the USA. As I am a Chinese, I also found out that it was screened in theaters in Taiwan at 2008/11/14 from this source, which is a Taiwan based Chinese movie website. (The words "上映日期" means "Date released" in Chinese) --Pchackal (talk) 08:47, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

POV compliance[edit]

The plot section currently makes reference to the characters being one-dimensional, poor acting, thin script, cheesy special effects and lame fight scenes. These are all specific points of view and should not be included in a plot summary, but re-voiced in the critical reception section - preferably with some appropriate references to some published reviews. This had previously been changed but was reverted by someone here. These comments do not belong here in this section or format. Forgotten Lords (talk) 06:00, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

the film deserves a better reputation[edit]

It is what it is, a low budget film based on a RPG. It is not Avatar nor Aliens. I thought it was great, for what it was.

.... and I really regret the hour or so I sat through before giving up on it. Sheesh, this is one bad film.
