No Oil?[edit]

The article is incorrect in stating this product does not include oil. Per the product website, Murphy's Oil Soap includes Citronella Oil. That is what gives the product it's distinct scent. http://www.colgate.com/MurphyOilSoap/products/Product-Ingredients/original-formula

Now, in 2022 The website explicitly says: "No, there is no oil in Murphy® Oil Soap." -- https://www.murphyoilsoap.com/products/original-oil-soap
Also keep in mind that historically any fabricated chemical liquid may have been named "oil" at some point in time, (e.g. oil of vitriol,) this does not mean that an essential oil like lemon-oil is in any way chemically related to the fatty acids in the "oils" pressed from seeds.
(English language is particularly awful regarding precise technical terms.)

Info on possible damaging effects[edit]

Very true when the wood has an oil or polyurethane finish, as is often the case with floors. When cleaning bare wood, this may be the best product. 173.174.85.204 (talk) 01:19, 10 December 2015 (UTC)Eric[reply]
There's no such thing as "bare wood". If there's no lacquer involved, any professional woodworker will "finish" a surface with an oil and wax treatment.
If you use the term "unfinished", but want it to mean "unlacquered", that's your own problem.
