S&W Model 27[edit]

Whoever keeps insisting that this is a .38 Super revolver needs to stop. The current 8-shot version of the M27 uses moon clips for .38 Special and .357 Magnum cartridges. This revolver is a standard S&W catalog item and is commonly encountered. The .38 Super cartridge is semi-rimmed and will headspace properly in most .38 revolvers without the use of moon clips but the safety of doing this varies. 9mm moon clips can also be made to work with many .38 revolvers (usually by customizing the rear face of the cylinder) but these are not standard catalog guns. These 9mm clips can also be used with .38 ACP and .38 Super cartridges (and probably .380 ACP, as well) but this does not change the fact that the revolver they are being used with was (and is still) designed for use with .38 Special or .357 Magnum cartridges. Also, FYI, Internet forum posts are not generally considered to be reliable citation sources for Wikipedia.--SEWalk (talk) 03:40, 22 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think that half-moon clip and moon clip should be merged at Moon clips, there are very little differences in the two articles. 209.33.36.146 06:08, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I concur. scot 03:50, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree as well. Doesn't make much sense to keep them both seperate with how similar they are.

I concur as well. One is a minor modification/development of the other. Shoobe01 17:58, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Concur as well.--BirddogVA 14:58, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gun mod necessary?[edit]

Is it necessary to use a special gun to use a moon clip? This doesn't quite feel right: that there's extra space that just happens to be unused in all revolvers. Piano non troppo (talk) 04:45, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
