Talk:Monster Rancher

I'm tossing a citation needed for the statement about the franchise's US name because Saban's "Monster Farm" came out in 1998 while the first game in the series launched as "Monster Rancher" the year before.

I'm not sure what the story section looked like at the time of that other criticism, but currently the whole "Before the world's continents broke up into pieces, a huge disaster hit the world. People prayed to God for help, and God created new life forms. However, new life forms brought new troubles, so God became exasperated and sealed them in "disc stones". Many years have passed since then and God entrusted the humans with the secret of "disc stones". Today people still continue searching for these missing "disc stones" to unlock the lifeforms within." sounds like the first game's actual transcript. The only real issue is that the continuity is different in the anime --- where I *think* monsters were predominated created by an ancient civilization rather than a god -- and at least some game monsters are acknowledged as having been man-made (Hengar).

There's a minor factual issue with the Monster Rancher DS section since Monster Rancher DS is technically Monster Farm 2 so really you'd be stuck saying "Monster Farm DS" and then either "Monster Farm DS 2" or "Monster Rancher DS"

I went ahead and just deleted the supposition that it was renamed to avoid confusion with the anime titled "Monster Farm." As Zedlion mentioned above, the renaming occurred before the airing of that anime so there was no conflict at that time. The fact that Japanese videogames are often renamed when migrating to the US is nothing new, and I always assumed it was because a title created in one language doesnt always sound as good or as fitting when translated directly into another language.... obviously this is just another supposition though and not even relevant here...

Just merge it, it'd be easier

(Response to above statement, which was posted by someone who forgot to sign) Just as long as no information is cut out, coz the list of characters is pretty big, and contains valuable information on a good show that's almost completely dead but did exist one time Ghostkaiba297 (talk) 05:25, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Erm... even if a merge were to take place, wouldn't it make sense to merge it with Monster Rancher (anime)? I mean, it just seems that the characters from a tv show have more to do with the actual show in which they're featured than they do with the videogames that inspired the show. That said, it seems like it could be done if the 'list of characters' were to simply mostly replace the 'voice roles' section of the anime's page. 139.57.100.104 (talk) 21:40, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose The list plus the article would be in contrast of WP:SIZE readability would definitely go down. (Not to mention the time it would take to load a page of that size) Sincerely Subzerosmokerain (talk) 22:36, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The story section is nearly unreadable. Can anyone familiar with the story rewrite? Or does the game just have translators that bad? 24.7.158.189 (talk) 10:05, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

142.166.132.36 (talk) 12:09, 22 February 2011 (UTC) It says that Monster Rancher was released before Pokemon in 1997, but the pokemon article says Pokemon was released in japan in 1996. Which is right?[reply]
