This is actually a generic latin word meaning essentially "warning" and should really have a disambiguation page. The Monitum is used in non-Catholic contexts such as in Australia for the Marriage Act where a celebrant is required to state a warning by law in order for the ceremony to be binding — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.159.156.180 (talk) 23:30, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
