Notability Discussion[edit]

With respect to Davidwr I have removed the notability banner. This east/west road shares several identifying characteristics with Northwest Highway (Texas). Furthermore, I think that the slapping on of a Notability banner so shortly after creation especially with consideration to Wikipedia:WikiProject_U.S._Roads/Notability seems premature. Hasteur (talk) 19:22, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This has been in progress for several days at Draft:Mockingbird Lane. I rejected it there for similar reasons. I read Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Notability before slapping the tag on it. I strongly considered an immediate PROD but wanted to give it a few more days. One key thing it does not share with Northwest Highway (Texas) is a designation as a state highway, which is a "nearly free pass" when it comes to notability (even almost-nothing roads that have a state highway number are likely to pass AFD). I am restoring the notability template in the hopes that if I'm wrong, it will attract the attention of those who know more than I do about the road and who can improve it to the point where notability is obvious. I'm not optimistic. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:48, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
So a divided road that is the access to multiple significant locations (including George W. Bush Presidential Center) doesn't hit notability? How about the fact that it is a significant east/west thoroughfare for the local region? Hasteur (talk) 20:18, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I only see one article about the roadway listed as a source, so I've restored the notability tag. As for the wikiproject tagging, since this is not a state highway, it's under WP:USST scope instead of WP:USRD. Imzadi 1979  21:37, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have found more sources that I will out up later, so I am removing the tag. Cheers, ❀Larksky12358Guestbook 22:19, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
RE Imzadi1979: Why pidgeonhole the article into a dead wikiproject? Reading the importance rules defined by US Roads, I tend to think that this belongs in the US Roads as the natual parent to the defunct Streets project. Hasteur (talk) 12:14, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
WP:USRD: "What do we not cover? With some exceptions, we do not maintain: City and local streets, which are maintained by WP:U.S. Streets". This is not one of those exceptions, so unless you are going to change the project's scope, do not put this back under USRD; per several years' consensus, this is a USST article, not USRD. Infobox and other things[edit]

Hello, back again. I have found a suitable infobox, but there is some information as to which I don't know. Can someone fill that out? Oh, and on the U.S. Roads Wikiproject, I think it would help this article if we tried to compile what is missing. Cheers, ❀Larksky12358Guestbook 14:40, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Except that's the wrong infobox for a city street. {{infobox road}} is set up for state highways, and by using it, you were falsely implying this was a state highway. I have switched this over to use {{infobox street}}, which lacks the "Highway system" section and therefore doesn't link to the articles/lists on the Texas state highway system to imply this is a state highway. Added[edit]

Hello, I have added a directional chart (with junctions) and two pictures. I was wondering where I could get a map for Mockingbird Ln? Thanks, Brmedia 15:27, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, adding pictures really makes a difference. What else could we add to make it better? Thanks, ❀Larksky12358Guestbook 16:11, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If you want an freely-licensed map, try the one at http://www.openstreetmap.org . If you want a good map to hunt for things along the route, Google Maps' Satellite or Earth view works well. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 22:57, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Notability discussion redux[edit]

Now that the "under construction" banner is gone, I've reviewed the article. I still don't see sufficient evidence that this road is notable. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 23:28, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

And I still think that as a significant east/west road that provides primary access to multiple independently notabile sites, in addition to the coverage provided, this road has met the GNG threshold. Hasteur (talk) 13:14, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

History section[edit]

I think the history section should go. It has almost nothing about Mockingbird's history, and what it does have is arguably not NPOV (Do all pedestrians agree it made it worse for pedestrians?), and is out of date. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.112.17.182 (talk) 03:55, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
