Hi, I'm a new editor. You deleted a photo of a dance that is a mixer on the article, Mixer dance and I have reverted your change. As an experienced editor I'm surprised you did not show good faith or even suggest to me how I can 'prove' that this picture is a mixer dance. I'm at a loss as to how to prove this is a photo of a mixer dance (perhaps a video or a series of photos? or even this photo with a photo of the dance pogram stating (mixer dance) directly under), thanks Johnscotaus (talk) 03:07, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Johnscotaus: Since you are new, please understand that images in wikipedia are to help readers to understand the subject of the article better, not just to make it look pretty. If you don't know how to prove that the photo is a mixer, then most probably it is useless for the purposes of the article. Now, your post is a series of statements of frustration, but I don't see any question, so I have no idea how I can help you.

However here are a couple of advice; since you are new, please read WP:BRD and don't get into a habit of revert wars. Second, if you want to illustrate a mixer, you must add a picture of the actual mixer, not just dancing, not changing dance shoes, not public clapping. - üser:Altenmann >t 03:22, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed to get a suitable photo in this article[edit]

As a new user and suggested by User:Altenmann am adding discussion of photo addition to the talk page.

I'm trying to add a suitable photo to this article and added photo shown to the right which was then deleted as it could not be proved that this was a photo of a 'mixer dance.

I'm finding it difficult to understand how I can prove that this phot shows a 'mixer dance'.

And I'm at a loss as to how to 'prove' that any photo is what it says it is (apart from including a series of photos showing the dance participants 'mixing' or a video) and how to find a photo that can be used in this article because it definitely shows a 'mixer' .

For example (and I'm not picking on the editor who included this picture below, I have just picked it at random) but how can this editor 'prove' that this is indeed a photo of the Liberty Bridge in Greenville, SC.

Please help.

You seem to fail to understand what article is about. For the third time: we are not illustrating Liberty Bridge, so you don't have to prove it; you need to illustrate the mixer in a way helpful to the readers of the article.

P.S. You may think it is pointless nitpicking, but it is a quite serious issue. Since wikipedia can be edited by anyone, there are plenty of pranksters who subtly change text, substitute false images and write fake articles. We even had honest mistakes when adding wrong photos of persons with similar names. Therefore please don't be annoyed and remember that by wikipedia rules the onus is on you to prove that information is correct. - üser:Altenmann >t 03:56, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
