Notability[edit]

I have worked with Minouche and so can vouch for her notability. She is globally influential in development matters - just ask Nick Stern of the Stern Report who was her supervisor at the L.S.E.. I am adding some further links. You only have to Google her to establish notability. She is incidentally the highest ranking 'Muslim origin' public officer in the entire OECD group of countries and is of course one of the VERY few women in the grouping to have reached the highest civil service grade. Neutrality and correction[edit]

My name is Marisol Grandon and I am a British civil servant working at the Department for International Development. I notice that this entry about Minouche Shafik has a factual inaccuracy. She has not had a chauffeur since January 2010.

The cited reference was to a Cilvil Service review (hardly 'Outside') that said nothing of the sort.

The Father's Land Nationalization[edit]

The bulk of Egyptian land nationalization happened a decade before her birth. While her father did have his land nationalized, the sources are consistent with that happening long before she moved to the U.S. at age 4. The current text implied the nationalization was the proximate cause for their move, but it seems likely that isn't true.

This paper is lifted almost entirely from a 1992 report coauthored with consultant not credited in the publication. This is wholesale intellectual theft, not subtle plagiarism.

Change the part in her bio claiming the pro-Palestinian protests are anti-semitic, and replace with “pro-Palestinian.” Claiming the protests are anti-semitic is biased and leaning towards one side of the war. Plus is not factually correct as both Israelites and Palestinians are semitic, being of that region.

Controversy around Anti-Jewish Bias[edit]

Ms. Shaffir has created a hostile environment for Jewish students and faculty that needs to be addressed. The school has clearly violated discrimination of students and faculty based on religion and national origin. Further, collective punishment by these activists is another failure of her tenure. Dating Style on Minouche Shafik[edit]

Currently this article uses a mix of English and American dating styles, with various editors continuing to add both styles in recent weeks. I would note the following from Wikipedia:

"Articles on topics with strong ties to a particular English-speaking country should generally use the date format most commonly used in that nation. For the United States this is (for example) July 4, 1976; for most other English-speaking countries it is 4 July 1976."

Shafik is far more well known for her tenure at Columbia than anything else, which is why I think we should use the American style consistenting across the board. But again happy to have a discussion so we are consistent throughout the article. Jjazz76 (talk) 20:49, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
