"[H]e regularly played judge, jury and executioner to an assortment of bad guys."[edit]

No, Mike was the good guy! He caught the baddies and held them for the police! Please fix this! --71.162.92.58 (talk) 21:17, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Uhm, he "accidently" killed a few people in self-defence. Watch the shows on DVD in case your memory is failing you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.79.2.203 (talk) 04:29, 29 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Listen, angel[edit]

What, no mention of Velda? I'm shocked! TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 10:43, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wasn’t Keach series filmed in Britain?[edit]

First up, this is very confusing that two unrelated (other than by subject) are lumped into one article; granted they share a name, but I don’t think Wikipedia would lump all the productions that have been made called “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” into one article, so what do it here? More importantly perhaps, wasn’t the Keach series filmed in Britain? Thought that was the reason he was in the U.K.when the drugs charge happened? Jock123 (talk) 16:34, 22 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you're right about the fact that it should be separate articles, probably with The New Mike Hammer being lumped in with "Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer (Stacy Keach)" or something like that. Regarding filming location, it was filmed on location in NYC. Keach did some voiceover recording in London (unfortunately for him!) Mr. Mephistopheles (talk) 10:58, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I would think using the Year in the title of each would be sufficient. I support the split.65.206.16.35 (talk) 19:24, 28 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Original reseach in section on Stacy Keach's version[edit]

This section has no sources, and makes strong assertions, that without sources, appear to be the opinions of whoever wrote the section. Examples of problematic text:

"The show's theme song "Harlem Nocturne" by Earle Hagen, a jazz tune featuring a deeply melancholy saxophone, set a gritty tone for each episode. The song proved to be one of the most popular elements of the program."

"In contrast to the charming male leads in other popular detective shows of the day (e.g., Remington Steele, Thomas Magnum), Mike Hammer was unapologetically masculine with little concern for political correctness." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.31.194.169 (talk) 19:50, 10 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah. I've been updating most of the page since someone created it with a lot of language like that. I've been adding references wherever possible and tweaking language.Mr. Mephistopheles (talk) 11:01, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting this into two articles: 1958 version & 1984 version[edit]

Outside of the two series sharing the same title, there is pretty much no reason that the 1958 TV series and the 1984 TV version should both be covered at the same article. I pretty strongly advise splitting this article into Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer (1958 TV series) and Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer (1984 TV series). (This article can then be converted into a redirect to Mike Hammer#Television, or perhaps turned into a disambiguation page.)

If no opposition is proffered on this split proposal in the near-term, I will carry out this split, perhaps in a month or so. --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:37, 7 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've been wanting to do this also but haven't had the time. I was thinking that using the lead actors' names would be a better way to differentiate them (i.e., Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer (Darren McGavin) and Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer (Stacy Keach), as the Keach series ran for several years. I was also going to merge The New Mike Hammer into Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer (Stacy Keach). Mr. Mephistopheles (talk) 19:41, 7 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The way I've proposed above is the way it's "supposed" to be done, as per WP:NCTV. That said, you could probably create Redirects at the locations you've proposed above... In terms of The New Mike Hammer, I was also going to look to see if a merge there was in order – I just wanted to get Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer (1984 TV series) spun off as a separate article first. --IJBall (contribstalk) 20:07, 7 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Dang, got the name wrong – repinging: Mr. Mephistopheles --IJBall (contribstalk) 20:29, 7 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see that now. Thanks for the clarity IJBall. I'm still pretty green with this stuff. Mr. Mephistopheles (talk) 13:27, 8 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
