Mouseton ≠ Duckburg

The city they live in is called Mouseton, according to the comic books under the Disney Comics Imprint. (...) It is also occasionally identified as Duckburg,

Mouseton and Duckburg are two distinct towns. Also, while in Disney cartoons characters from Mouseton (e.g. Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Horace Collarhorse...) and from Duckburg (Donald Duck, Uncle Scrooge, Chip 'n Dale...) are allowed to meet, according to the stricter rules applied by the Walt Disney Company to comics, in nowadays comic books there should be no contact between the universe of Duckburg and that of Mouseton. "Mouseton and Duckburg are two distinct towns." This is language-dependent. In some languages, such as Italian, they are always different towns ("Topolinia" and "Paperopoli" respectively). In other languages, such as Swedish, they are always one and the same (or at least carry the same name: "Ankeborg"). In yet other languages, such as English, they are sometimes different towns, and sometimes one and the same. The naming of Mickey's home town in English is inconsistent. The rule (somewhat recent) that standardises the use of Disney characters in comics states that the two towns are distinct and that characters living in one cannot meet chracters from the other (rare exceptions are still possible in special circumstances, such special anniversaries). This rule does not affect animation, as it is only effective in comics. This dictat is very strictly observed by the Walt Disney Company - Italy (which is the official international referrer for Disney comic production). On the other hand, local productions, such as stories published in the Nordic countries or South America may not follow this rule, as they adhere to a different local tradition. Source: official. Acceptions

What characters are considered "part" of the universe?Mouseton and Duckburg are both places made up for Mickey Mouse and his friends to live,so which places are considered of these places,shouldnt the Mickey Mouse Universe be any characters relating to Mickey Mouse?In a specific cartoon,not in shows like House Of Mouse where many characters are gathered.--D3t3ctiv3 (talk) 17:33, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Article a mess

This article is a mess, it seems to confuse the animated universe (such as House of Mouse etc. with the comics universe, which is a lot more strict. Too many ducks, etc. 惑乱 Wakuran (talk) 21:09, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

And why is the use of AJAX products (!) the first fact we state about the MM Universe? And who decided that the main characters were called "VIP" characters—a term I've never heard in my 18 years of professional Disney work? I'm going to change this. Ramapith (talk) 23:42, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Be consequent

Duck universe are not longer allowed to be named "Donald Duck universe", and that creates confusion. Either, it should get it's old name again, or else this articled should be named "Mouse universe" or something like this. And I know that many characters are not mouses, but there's even many characters in the other universe who are not ducks.--Buggwiki (talk) 14:11, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

J. Audubon Woodlore

This park ranger is a Duck universe character operating in Duckburg. He should be on the equivalent Duck universe page, not here. I'd move him, but I'm unsure of how to get him out of menus, etc. related to this page. Ramapith (talk) 19:40, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

Arizona Goof origin

According to a search on INDUCKS the first story was I predatori del tempio perduto, by Bruno Sarda and illustrated by Maria Luisa Uggetti, not Massimo de Vita. Does anyone know where to verify/resolve this? –St.nerol (talk) 19:41, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

Long dog (dachshund?) in early Mickey Mouse cartoons

Is there a name for the long, flexible dog character seen in early Mickey Mouse cartoons (for example, the skinny dog in [1] Plane Crazy, or in [2] [see, for example, 5:22 of the latter])? πr2 (t • c) 20:30, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

The long dog is indeed a dachshund and his name is Wienie, as given in the very first comics written by Walt Disney himself. Ramapith (talk) 18:43, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Simple Confusion Made Easy

Is it just me or is everyone missing three very simple facts. It is already said in this that the official explanation for a lot of non-sequitur locations and odd naming is that Mickey, Donald etc are all actors employed by Disney (According to the proper continuity).

Therefore the information on locations needs to be broken into two parts.

The Real (fictional) world

Which contains all the real places as well as Mickey's Toon Town which is part of a wider USA and probably has it's back against toontowns from other companies. It is:
  • Somewhere near Hollywood and includes Mickey's Castle. He is regent king of the area.
  • The area contains a number of suburbs such as Mouseton, topolina, the farm he used to live on, etc.

And the Fictional towns created in the shows they act

which is in the fictional state of Calisota
  • includes cities such as DuckBerg, Silo Centre, st canard, eureka etc
  • and is actually a set of backlots, stages, accessed through a dimensional portal (goodness knows what),

I'm sure by going along and drawing a dividing line it would soon become obvious what areas are most likely in the real (fictional) world and which are contextually related to shows that Mickey and his friends have worked on or starred in as actors? Wildwinni (talk) 14:45, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Oh, and please remember that there is a clear timeline to the stories. So all the names of places he's lived may be where he has lived, but not where he is today. It would make sense. I mean, people do move town sometimes :D Wildwinni (talk) 14:57, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Wildwinni, you've made everything much more confusing. You can't just mix Roger Rabbit, Disneyland, Kingdom Hearts, and Mickey comics continuity. Mickey is only a king in Kingdom Hearts. Mickey only lives in Toontown in Roger Rabbit and Disneyland continuity.

Article is a mess

More than a year after I pointed out that J. Audubon Woodlore is a Duck universe character unrelated to Mickey Mouse, he is still here.

"Herman Beetle" also belongs in the Duck universe and, as presented here, is an unsourced fan amalgamation of two characters. In the old Disney shorts, Grandpa Bootle Beetle had two grandsons, Ezra and Herman (both appear in Morris the Midget Moose, 1950). In later TV specials, Herman was Ludwig Von Drake's assistant/pet. The writer here has mistakenly blurred Herman and Grandpa into one.

There's a character called "Jessie Mouse" who appears to be a fanon creation, added to the page as a joke.

Minnie Mouse's real name is Minerva Mouse, so should her name be Minerva "Minnie" Mouse? I know it is rarely used but it is technically more correct.JhanJensen (talk) 16:51, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

Ortensia the Cat

This paragraph contains false infromation:

As a side note, Ortensia is an Italian name that means "gardener", something that some of her art related to Epic Mickey shows to be a hobby of hers.

In Italian, ortensia means hydrangea. A person who takes care of a garden is a giardiniere; a person who cultivates small edible vegetables is an ortolano (female: ortolana). It is true that a market garden is called an orto in Italian but ortensia is just a flower, not a female ortolano.--Carnby (talk) 14:39, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

No, Pete has ALWAYS been supposed to be a wolf. I beleave Pete of not being a cat ("Who ever heard of a cat had a canine-like snout?!") Ajax as a fictional company

While Ajax in this article is identified as a counterpart to Warner's ACME, some Warner Bros. pictures actually substituted ACME for...a fictional company called Ajax. Some examples: in "Daffy Dilly", the Ajax Rib Tickler. In "The Ducksters", Ajax Broadcasting Company. Et cetera. As in Disney's case, we have no clue if the name is based on the real life companies or perhaps a reference to the Hudson and Landry radio show. Regardless, it should be noted that both companies have used that name. In fact, the ACME article (using the lowercase "Acme", mind you, I won't go into semantics) has an Ajax redirect to this article's Ajax section under "See also". The Origin of Mortimer Mouse

The origin of Mortimer is somewhat incorrect, he was originally introduced as Minnie's Uncle in 1930 but this was retconned by 1936 and has instead been Mickey's rival ever since as well Minnie's ex-boyfriend. [1]24.152.143.149 (talk) 20:04, 7 August 2017 (UTC)

Merge proposal

Sylvester Shyster needs to have his own page like the other characters. He also needs to be called out in the "Main characters" section - not tagged onto Pete. I have research for this character and can change this later (I need to make an account here first). I come with this proposal to merge the following characters into this article under the characters section:

This is because none of these characters have managed to prove notability outside Disney media (comics, series, short films, etc.) With this, I mean that none have received deep coverage by reliable secondary sources independent from the primary works, and also none of them have impact in popular culture the same way as the main core of characters (Mickey, Donald, Pluto, etc.)

I am fully aware that some of these characters like Clara Cluck are also in the Donald Duck universe. In this case, they will also be featured in the list of characters of the Duck universe with a link to this page. --LoЯd ۞pεth 00:49, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Amen! Why is J. Audubon Woodlore (who usually appears with Donald Duck) here? Why are the Beagle Boys here? Where's Captain Doberman and Gloomy the mechanic??

They were featured in multiple classic comic strip adventures of the mid-1930's and also appeared in the Italian comics! Along with the 1940's detective stories, these were some of Mickey's all-time greatest and most-beloved adventures!
