Rockland's four-year-old son, Jeffrey Rockland, appeared in Doctor Zhivago as "Sasha Zhivago," the title character's son. The movie was filmed in Spain when he was serving as a cultural officer there, and this episode is described in a chapter of An American Diplomat in Franco's Spain.
