Move[edit]

Hello, I'm from the german Wikipedia. Can someone move this Page to Metin2 or Metin2 (video game) please? This is the right name. Lukas9950 (talk) 15:54, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The name?[edit]

Does anyone know why it's called Metin2? Was there a Metin1 before this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.171.221.144 (talk) 19:37, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The p Server Scene (pServers)[edit]

Why is this section always be deleted ? I think the information seems to be correct there is always no reason to hide the information. If 2,2 million treads are in elitepvpers pservers are very important for this game.

The Metin2 pServer (pServer or p Server from “private server”) section in Metin2 is very big. There are some big Servers online with more than 7500 Players daily. The Names of the Biggest Servers Like WoM2 [1] or Dark-Fusion [2] (7500 Players/day) vary some time but the players go through the Toplist[3], Elitepvpers[4] and some Youtube[5] [6] [7] channels. The Activity of the pServers is very big. In Elitepvpers [8] section "METIN2 PSERVER - DISCUSSIONS / QUESTIONS" are over 2.293.443 (2.2 million) posts.

The issue isn't that it's incorrect, the issue is two-fold: Many games have these "private" servers. By itself, this is not notable, and in light of WP:GAMEGUIDE, it's not the article's job to point users to them. The second problem is these servers are not official, and often are actually illegal per terms of service. Eik Corell (talk) 17:13, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes but only because it is not official. I think Wikipedia should point out all parts of the game. If there is not sutch a scene than i accept that it has nothing todo in the atricle, but is there is i huge scense and 2,2 million posts is a lot, we have to put it in the article also the big sites where the people come from.
Them not being official is not the only problem. There is the WP:GAMEGUIDE issue I mentioned, and also per #11 of WP:ELNO, these kinds of fansites are to avoided. Eik Corell (talk) 17:25, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
"except those written by a recognized authority." -> is 2.2 mio posts a recognized authority ?
Recognized authority refers to the WP:RS guideline. In this case a recognized authority would be the gaming press, popular media coverage, etc. Wikipedia has a list of a lot of these authorities here. Eik Corell (talk) 18:45, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Gameforge YouTube Video copyright problems

Gameforge claimed some copyright over the youtubers who made videos from pserver. Some of the channels are closed now. YouTube LasagneXXL [9]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. nyuszika7h (talk) 09:40, 16 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious nature of some servers[edit]

I had not heard of this software before but I have recently been introduced to FreeBSD - and it appears that there was some sort of leak of the Server software (that ran on a FreeBSD OS) in 2010 - however that version (7.2) is now way past end of life and thus down-grading to it (in order to install and use the software without a license) occasionally crops up as a topic on the FreeBSD Forums - such requests for details about how to do so are thus rightly treated with skepticism if not immediate banning; see "METIN-2 / METIN2 and other illegal software - don't ask for assistance on these forums. Threads will be closed, posters will be banned."

I would suggest that this ought to be mentioned somewhere in the article.
