Top Speed claims[edit]

The cited source doesn't mention the top speed and the only occurrence of 180 is the horse power of the later engines. The claimed top speed of 180mph is rather unlikely, taking into consideration that the W198 w/ 225hp made around 150-160mph and the 300SLR needed around 300hp to get to the claimed speed (almost twice the power of the W194). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.231.129.62 (talk) 06:24, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Daryl E Murphy's Carrera Panamericana book only quotes the top speed of the 300SL as being 160mph, so I will change this now. A7V2 (talk) 07:19, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
