First sentence is not properly referenced. (Nothing else is, either)[edit]

"Matsoukas is of Greek, Jewish, Jamaican and Cuban descent.[1] "

the reference only calls her a "Greek-Cuban visionary". Please provide proper references.--345Kai (talk) 22:18, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I addressed this. Changed the source to one that actually cites what's written. Skoulikomirmigotripa (talk) 17:01, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Name written in Greek[edit]

As an American of Greek descent myself, I recognize that Μελίνα Ματσούκα is likely how Melina Matsoukas would be written in Greek (say, in the event she applied for Greek citizenship), except that to my ear, in her last name, the emphasis is on the last syllable, not the second. Even if I'm mistaken, it still requires a reliable source. --173.129.179.185 (talk) 22:51, 22 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, as a Greek, I can assure you the name is not pronounced Ματσουκά. I don't know exactly what source to cite on this, it's just not the correct way to pronounce the word in greek. Here's a βικιλεξικό article on the word ματσούκα. Skoulikomirmigotripa (talk) 15:52, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. You inspired me to do a web search for ματσούκα and in the results, I see there's a Greek actress named Δήμητρα Ματσούκα [el]. I don't know enough about Wikipedia to know whether this qualifies as a source for Melina Matsoukas's surname in Greek in this article, but I'm satisfied. --173.129.51.39 (talk) 22:29, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
