The section on Jim White might be seen as violating NPOV.

Responding to the unsigned complaint above. The superlatives are justified and sourced. The casual language describing the schools they have competed against might be a bit colorful, but knowing the high school reputations they are non-specifically referring to, I can pretty well identify who they are talking about and its as accurate as categorizing McFarland as predominantly Latino. And it matches to source so well we're probably closer to copyvio than we are NPOV. Trackinfo (talk) 10:04, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Jim White[edit]

I have removed the section on Jim White, as it seemed undue emphasis on one person coaching at the school. Jim White may be notable, in which case I suggest creating an article for him alone; Jim White (coach). --Escape Orbit ^(Talk) 18:36, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

McFarland High School Cross Country Team[edit]

I'm pretty sure that McFarland did not win 24 straight STATE championships, because I have seen results of STATE meets in which they finished 3rd and 14th. I think that they won a large number of SECTION championships, and that's what the reporter in the TV item said -- "After winning 25 Section titles since 1987..." . The picture of the school shows State championships, ending in 1999.

McFarland's actual record in Californai State Cross Country Championship meets[edit]

I only found results back to 2004: 2004 9th team in division 4 2005 5th team in division 4 2006 4th team in division 4 2007 3rd team in division 4 2008 2nd team in division 4 2009 2nd team in division 4 2010 14th team in division 3 (note the change in division) 2011 20th team in division 3 2012 21st team in division 2 (up another rung) 2013 16th team in division 2 2014 one individual, 65th in division 1 (this is the change the TV item was about) They also had girls teams place 19th, 20th and 16th in division 4 in 2009-2011, 19th and .16th in division 3 in 2012-13, and 22nd in division 2 in 2014, so it appears that only the boys team was put in division 1. ^[1]

Thank you Alan, I have made the adjustment. I haven't had the time to look, but Hank Lawson has a pretty good archive of results. They were at Dyestat but now have been moved to prepcaltrack.com. I found Central Section results from 2008-2014 (except 2009). The claim of 24 straight section championships may be true, as that would cover 1987-2010. They did win the section division 4 title in 2008, with an excellent score of 21 points, while the girls were 3rd. I did not find 2009. In 2010, boys girls and boys won, the girls in division 4, the boys in division 3. In 2011, the boys finished 2nd in division 3; the girls won division 4. In 2012, the boys were in division 2, and won, while the girls won division 3. In 2013, the boys won division 2, the girls division 3. In 2014, the boys were put in division 1, and finished 4th, while the girls finished 2nd in division 2.
