multiple prods[edit]

This article was prodded twice, in 2011 and 2012. WP:PROD says prod can only be used once, per article. Nevertheless it was deleted by the second prod.

There is another prominent Matt Olsen, Matthew G. Olsen, who is also generally known as Matt Olsen.

I requested reversal of the improper prod when the other Matt Olsen was in the news, and it looked like the article about him had been deleted by a bad prod.

If there are insufficient RS for actor Matt Olsen to merit an article of his own he should still have been covered in the Sly Cooper article. Something should remain in the record so someone like me can know, when we go to add material to the article on Matt Olsen, prominent public official, that the Matt Olsen article that is a red-link, was about a namesake.

Is Matt Olsen, actor, notable enough for a standalone article? I frankly dunno. My google searches found some references to Matt Olsen that weren't too the former counter-terrorism official. But some of those are to additional namesakes. Geo Swan (talk) 04:22, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest redirection[edit]

Matt Olsen, the voice actor, is not totally non-notable. But, after looking into it, I don't think the scattered references to him measure up to the criteria for him to merit a stand-alone article. Hollywood Reporter, for instance, has a paragraph on a new project, where he was to be one of the producers.

I redirected Matt Olsen to Matt Olsen (voice actor). I am going to further suggest that the article on Matt Olsen, voice actor, be replaced by a redirect to the article Sly Cooper, the product he is most identified with.

Redirection would avoid the absolutely terrible situation the poorly handled deletion of Matt Olsen created -- where it looked like the article on the highly notable counter-terrorism official had been deleted, without even a discussion. Redirection preserves the contribution history, so it is obvious to anyone how notable we had found the voice actor. Redirection, and the creation of a disambiguation page, (done), will prevent confusing the not particularly notable voice actor with his much more notable namesakes.

I'll return here, after a reasonable period of time, and will redirect the article, unless someone offers a reasonable argument as to why they think that is a bad idea. Geo Swan (talk) 14:23, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
