Sherlock storyline?[edit]

"Most of it is about Holmes' attempts to gain membership of a high-class brothel. Watson is disinterested having become sexually impotent in the opening scenes of the show."

Is there any basis for this statement? No such information is given in the press release to which there is a link. Gildir (talk) 19:41, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Posters or DVD covers for films need to be removed[edit]

These images normally exist on Wikipedia under a fair use rationale, any use of such images in this article require a specific fair use rationale to be created, which in my opinion would not be valid for this BLP as the images are not central to the article and Freeman already has suitable illustrative photographs. See Non-free content criteria for the policy that applies. (talk) 14:04, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kittens[edit]

Martin Freeman is probably not made out of Kittens, and unless you can find reliable sources to state that he is, stop adding it to the article! --Τασουλα (Shalom!) (talk) 13:00, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Personal Life[edit]

Is all that information required? No one really needs to know that he is 'left handed', nor the details of what battles his grandfather fought in. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.67.127.233 (talk) 16:07, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the bit about him being left-handed. About his grandfather, well, it's relevant to a TV show he appeared in so maybe it's OK? *Shrugs* Also, added standard Fact tags. --Τασουλα (Shalom!) (talk) 03:31, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Awards[edit]

Martin Freeman won the BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama series for his role in Sherlock on the 22/05/2011. Cite error: The <ref> tag has too many names (see the help page). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.40.40.129 (talk) 20:17, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Martin Freeman went to the Salesian College in Farnborough NOT in Chertsey — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.24.214.165 (talk) 01:35, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Although the Salesian College is in Farnborough, the article continues to state that he attended the Salesian School, which is in Chertsey... as indeed it has done since before and after your claim. The cited source backs up the fact it was the comprehensive school in Chertsey, not the grammar school in Farnborough. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:EA01:1090:5C17:D12E:3693:722 (talk) 14:54, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Outdated "Career" section[edit]

I think this section is outdated. It mentions some roles that are of interest but that Martin is hardly well known for (e.g. his role in Hardware, his cameo in Hot Fuzz). I think more recent, popular films should be included in lieu of these, such as Nightwatching and Wild Target. --Northerlywind (talk) 00:15, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Name[edit]

Please, what is his third name?i really want to know that — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.176.159.95 (talk) 14:22, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's probably just "C." on its own. The "S" in president Harry S Truman's name was just...S...--Nutthida (talk) 17:24, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Can somebody please add The World's End to Mr. Freeman's filmography please? Link for citation: http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=35334

Edit Request[edit]

It says in the table near the bottom that he's appeared in 7 episodes of Sherlock. There are currently only 6 episodes of Sherlock. Can someone verify this? Did the person who wrote "7" take the unaired, rough draft of the pilot into count as well? 117.227.8.34 (talk) 13:02, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Height??[edit]

Can someone who can edit this page please check his height. I'm fairly certain that "short" is not an encyclapedic entry (i probably spelt enctclapedic wrong, sorry) Meeeeeeee39 (talk) 13:48, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Request: Personal Life[edit]

To the list of shows that Martin Freeman and Amanda Abbington have acted in together, I was going to add series 3 of Sherlock - apparently I can't as it's 'semi-protected' but could I suggest that someone does? Beckalina (talk) 12:18, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that the Filmography doesn't contain both movies : Sherlock Holmes I and Sherlock Holmes II I think people in charge of this should reconcider this. 41.143.22.10 (talk) 15:05, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Image in infobox[edit]

An image of a character is being used instead of the actor himself? Not allowed? Benedict Cumberbatch article does not use a picture of Sherlock to represent him. A hobbit next!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.125.27.14 (talk) 21:01, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done These are the only pictures of Freeman we currently have. If you own the copyright to a better picture, please upload it to Wikimedia Commons and we would be pleased to use it. can we Change the picture please? http://www.promicabana.de/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Martin-Freeman-Der-Hobbit-Europapremiere-London.jpg

Article mentions Martin Freeman has appeared in 20 episodes of the TV series Fargo. The correct number is actually 10 and thus, this should be edited accordingly.

Not done: He's famous for many things. The roles in the first paragraph are in chronological order, which seems just fine to me. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 01:24, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

'Still Game'[edit]

I am fairly certain I spied Martin Freeman in an episode of 'Still Game', S4 E3; however, you'll have to double check Netflix. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.82.165.220 (talk) 02:24, 17 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What do you want added, removed or changed? Martinevans123 (talk) 21:05, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Based on their edit history, it is likely they want to add the nationality "british" to the infobox. Such edits of theirs have been reverted on other pages, due to them being likely a sockpuppet. FYI. --Ebyabe talk - Union of Opposites ‖ 17:54, 21 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Look its just that he isnt like Anthony Hopkins, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, Samuel l.Jackson, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt or evan Stephen Spielberg and they are rich and if you are really well known then you can protect their page but it doesnt say why for Martin Freeman at all in fact he isnt famous at all.

So can you please unlock his page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.106.30.36 (talk) 20:31, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The page shan't be "unlocked". You can always create a user account and then edit. That is, after your block expires. Cheers. --Ebyabe talk - Opposites Attract ‖ 05:42, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

BBC Desert Island Discs 5 April 2019[edit]

Please may I add that Martin is appearing on the <BBC Radio 4> Programme, <Desert Island Discs> ? I would be happy to add some of the things he is telling us on that programme.Richard Heald (talk) 08:20, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Typo in Television section[edit]

Add political party to infobox?[edit]

The article states in the Martin Freeman#Personal life section that he is a supporter of the Labour Party, and has endorsed Labour candidates. Does this merit an inclusion of the party in his infobox under the |party= parameter? -- Politicsfan4 (talk) 16:11, 25 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Misspelling?[edit]

“Practicing” Catholic as opposed to Practising Catholic? Anyone? Please address promptly. Emfalvs95 (talk) 03:10, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Responder - Episode numbers incorrect.[edit]

Small error. In the filmography section. 2022s "The Responder", is in fact 6 episodes, not the incorrectly stated 5 episodes. 119.224.73.229 (talk) 10:13, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Family trivia[edit]

The mentions of his paternal grandfather & gt-grandfather are extremely trivial. They neither held any position of note nor appear to have influenced Freeman in any significant way. Wikipedia is not a genealogy resource & I see no need to retain the information. - Sitush (talk) 03:36, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request[edit]

Content to be changed: In the "personal life" section, it says "and is no longer a practising Catholic." This should probably say something along the lines of "Martin describes himself as 'no longer a practicing Catholic,' but says he still visits and does so 'unironically'."

Reason: The title of the source is "Martin Freeman: ‘I’m one of few people in my family who would ever unironically go into a church’" and he says in the article "I still like popping into churches to offer one up, light a candle, do all that stuff." Simply saying "he is no longer a practicing Catholic" and not reflecting the other material comes across as cherry picking. 14.12.72.97 (talk) 09:59, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: It's not cherrypicking when he, himself, says he nonpracticing. Callmemirela 🍁 03:58, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
