Trusted critic[edit]

According to survey of British moviegoers from 2010 "Mark Kermode is the most trusted professional film critic" [1] Not that every agrees with him of course, just that they trust what he is saying.

Reputation is a difficult thing to write about objectively, as an encyclopedia should, but it would be great if the article could go some way to better represent that fact that he does have a well earned reputation for his long career of insightful criticism. (Also for his scathing reviews when he hates a film, which he plainly admits having written a whole book about it, called "Hatchet Job".)

I guess I'm saying this article is almost too neutral? -- 109.78.203.194 (talk) 03:21, 6 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That article is ten years old.--EchetusXe 15:55, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

recent edits and BLP vandalism[edit]

There have been a string of recent edits claiming that his grandfather was a travelling flour/flower salesman, and citing an audible version of "It's Only a Movie: Reel Life Adventures of a Film Obsessive". I have checked an electronic printed version of the book and this information is not in the book. I have deleted it yet again. If this continues I will semiprotect the page to stop this nonsense.

There appears to have been a multiple attempts to introduce incorrect, unsourced information in this article. He complained about it a few months ago on his podcast (specifically his name, which is now corrected) and I have already found a few other examples. I think we should go through it with a fine toothcomb, comparing what is in the citations with the info given in the article. If anybody can help, that would be great. Since the problem immediately reoccurred regarding a primary school, I have semi protected the article. If you can’t edit the article and want to propose some edits post them here and we can discuss.Slp1 (talk) 07:22, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 14 July 2023[edit]

Requesting an additional paragraph in 'Other work' section:

In May 2022, following the end of the BBC Radio 5 Live Show Kermode and Mayo's Film Review, the pair started the podcast Kermode and Mayo's Take. The podcast has a similar format to the previous show but includes some reviews of television shows as well as films. DN TF (talk) 16:09, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
