I received the same mail today! --Gyanda (talk) 12:28, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a warning about the scam mails to the article. Let's see if that gets removed... --Bartim (talk) 10:59, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Still going around a over a year later. Just got the same spam in my email 2601:C5:C180:4F50:F12:2162:924:C02A (talk) 02:16, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Donation scam[edit]

If you've come here regarding a "donation" please read this article about a "donation scam" using Maria-Elisabeth Schaeffler's name. OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:41, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Omission of donation scam from the article[edit]

I just removed the following text from the article:

In connection with a variant of advance payment fraud, spam e-mails are circulating in which it is claimed that Maria-Elisabeth Schaeffler wants to donate a large sum of money to the recipients.

In other articles with similar circumstances, the abuse of the subject's name has been omitted from the article, whether sourced or not. I see no indication that anything here is different enough to warrant different treatment for Schaeffler. —C.Fred (talk) 19:09, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Does the fact that this very article is linked in those scam mails to facilitate legitimacy make this different enough? The German article still has this hint, which is why they point to the English version specifically. Even when addressing in German.
