Movereq

Ella Margaret GibsonMargaret Gibson (Patricia Palmer)

This article was moved from Ella Margaret Gibson with no previous discussion. The naming of this article does not conform in any way to naming conventions and I am requesting that it be moved back until discussion can determine the proper name for the article. Wildhartlivie (talk) 18:35, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved it back. The photo was also re-uploaded, distorted and greyscaled, I've reverted back to the old image. Gwen Gale (talk) 18:51, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
After looking into this some, I think either Ella Margaret Gibson (because she had so many names, perhaps her birth name is easiest) or Margaret Gibson (because she had her early movie successes under this name and it's the most widely noted) would be ok as a title for this article. Patricia Palmer was a name she used after the scandal of her vagrancy trial, while her career slowly wound down. Gwen Gale (talk) 20:03, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm open on this, but I know the naming wasn't correct. I'm prone to stay with something that approximates who she actually is. Thanks, Gwen, and thanks for fixing my muddled move template. Wildhartlivie (talk) 20:20, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No move The bracketed form is clearly a bad form which does not conform to any naming convention. I'm inclined to leave her at the present name, because of the conflict with the writer Margaret Gibson, although there is a case for moving her to "Margaret Gibson", "Margaret Gibson (actor)" or "Patricia Palmer". Requested move[edit]

The result of the move request was: page moved. Vegaswikian (talk) 06:17, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ella Margaret GibsonMargaret Gibson (actress) — Her birth name was never used as stage name, names of people should use the common form per WP:UCN. Overwhelmingly she was credited under only two, first as Margaret Gibson and later as Patricia Palmer. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0317098/ However, she had her early movie successes under Margaret Gibson and it's the most widely noted. Patricia Palmer was a name she used after the scandal of her vagrancy trial, while her career slowly wound down. At first I tried this article move to "Margaret Gibson (actress)" but the page could not be moved: a page of that name already exist. Being originally created as "Margaret Gibson (actress)" [1], a few minutes later, cut-and-paste move to Ella Margaret Gibson was done by same user. I'm ok with either this or keeping the title as-is. Gwen Gale (talk) 09:25, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Elsa, if you're going to use my wording in a post you make, you should attribute it to me. Gwen Gale (talk) 11:59, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The cut and paste moves you cite above were made 4 years ago, they have no sway now. Gwen Gale (talk) 12:01, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, from your updated post I understand what you're saying. If a page already exists at your move target, an admin is needed. Anyway, as I said, I'm ok with either Ella Margaret Gibson (the title now), Margaret_Gibson (actor) or Margaret_Gibson (actress). Let's wait for more input from other editors. Gwen Gale (talk) 12:26, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Support on reflection. PatGallacher (talk) 15:05, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Inferred motive[edit]

The entire part about the inferred motive is pure, unsubstantiated speculation and as such shouldn't be here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Revmagpie (talkcontribs) 10:36, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The confession is sourced and verifiable, as is her background and the other text. Gwen Gale (talk) 10:47, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Irrelevant--Unless the motive was included in that confession, "inferring" anything from it is still speculation. And in fact the article specifically says that the "inferred motive" has nothing to do with the confession. Revmagpie (talk) 00:17, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sourced speculation is allowed. Gwen Gale (talk) 09:37, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And there's no source attached to the "inferred motive". But again, I'm not going to beat my head against your obsession with Gibson and her completely uncorroborated confession. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Revmagpie (talkcontribs) 19:29, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
With all respect, it certainly seems like you are beating your head. I support whatever Gwen has to say about it. Wildhartlivie (talk) 23:14, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
