Yes, I would also like to see a date of birth and place of birth. Also, Rickson and his camp have denied the allegations that the two ever fought. Royce Gracie, half brother to Rickson and probably the best known member in the U.S. has gone on the record in Black Belt magazine (around '96 or '97, I don't know when exactly or the issue number) as saying Ruas lied about this to gain credibility as a BJJ player. So I would like to see this assertion that there was indeed a fight either expounded upon (perhaps in its own section) or excised entirely as it is not a hard fact without a credible source.

Unfortunately he did not fight any Gracie member, he has however fought one their top students a guy called Fernando Pinduka to a draw. It was a kind of challenge between BJJ and Lutre Livre (BJJ minus a Gi). Rickson comments that Ruas has a sloppy ground game (guard etc), where as Ruas has challenged Rickson's Standup prowess. I agree that it's weird that nowhere really publicises his place or date of birth, I believe him to be around 46/47 now though. SubXerox 08:29, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Having an impact[edit]

No doubt that age and injuries added to him being on the mma scene briefly. But he really opened alot of eyes with submitting an opponent with a rnc, then going at it in the legendary Paul Varlens fight and chopping him down with leg kicks. He was the first to put really integrate some arts together and make them work on a big stage. and he won the ufc 7 tournament this way.
