Separation or Move[edit]

This article should either be moved under the title of Malt Shovel Brewery and be expanded to relate to the brewery history & operations or alternatively just relate to the actual beer brand, with a new article created for the brewery.Dan arndt (talk) 14:38, 6 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Have started improvements to the article with the intention of moving it to 'Malt Shovel Brewery. Dan arndt (talk) 09:57, 7 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: moved. Jenks24 (talk) 13:39, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

James Squire (beer)Malt Shovel Brewery – The article is about the brewery not the beers that it produces. It therefore should be moved under the heading of the brewery, Malt Shovel Brewery. --Relisted. walk victor falk talk 05:30, 20 May 2014 (UTC)Dan arndt (talk) 15:08, 7 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment. Not too comfortable with this. Note that before the nominator started working on the article it was solely about the James Squire brand of beers and the brewery was only mentioned once in passing [1]. Is the brewery itself even notable? I can find some news coverage of the James Squire beers but very little (and none of it what I would consider significant) is about the brewery. And lastly, and I know this will have little to no weight when closing the RM, it just seems like common sense to name the article after how most people will be searching for it. Plenty of people have heard of James Squire beers (I've actually read this article a few months ago before seeing it in the RM queue and that's how I searched for it), but let's be honest -- bugger all people have heard of the brewery that makes it. 101.176.89.125 (talk) 18:05, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The brewery is definetely notable - more so than the beers. As indicated in the article the Malt Shovel Brewery has recieved a number of rewards both in Australia and Internationally - most significantly twice named 'Champion Australasian Brewery' at the Australian International Beer Awards. The Malt Shovel Brewery also produces more than just the James Squire beers.Dan arndt (talk) 01:38, 22 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough about the awards, I was more going by what I felt was a lack of significant coverage in google news. That said, the nom has put a fair bit of effort into improving this article recently and I have no interest in doing so. So even though I'm still uneasy with the new title, it does accurately reflect the current scope of the article, and as it seems that will remain the case for the foreseeable future I do not oppose. I hope that someday the James Squire beers will have a stand-alone article again because they are notable in their own right. To any passing admin I'd encourage them to close this as moved seeing as this RM has been going for a few weeks now and there have been two supports with no opposes. 101.176.89.125 (talk) 10:42, 30 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

James Squire Beers[edit]

Whilst some James Squire beers are made at the Malt Shovel brewery, the majority of the popular brands such as Golden Ale are also brewed by other large Lion Nathan breweries such as Tooheys at Lidcombe NSW, and even at Boag's in Tasmania. A small number of beers are produced at the "brewpubs" from time to time but the recent fairly big inroads into Australian pubs has been sourced mainly from Lion Nathan's big industrial plants. There should indeed be a separate James Squire beers article. --MichaelGG (talk) 08:16, 7 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
