Jan Peerce?[edit]

I was under the impression Jan Peerce recorded exclusively for RCA Victor and later for Vanguard. Sure he recorded for Majestic too? 70.69.34.136 22:48, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Peerce made his first commercial recordings for Eli Oberstein's US Record Corp. in 1938-39 and these originally appeared on Varsity. They were already old by the time that Majestic acquired them through a deal with Obie along with a number of old US Record Corp. and Hit masters. Peerce was really anxious to get these discs behind him, as he was with RCA Victor at the time and his newer discs were selling well, but his efforts to that end were to no avail. As Majestic went belly up at the end of 1947, it didn't have much impact on Peerce in the short term, but these zombie releases reappeared on cheap Obie LPs of 1950s as well. Obie had bought some of Majestic back in 1949 from Mercury, who had swept the failed company up off of the receiver's index the previous year.Pinikadia 13:28, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
