I'll see if I can get my main reference back. I own a copy of "The Ligon Family and Connections," (1947) which should be an sufficiently authoritative source. There are a number of copies of this scattered about the globe if I can't get mine back from a cousin. I also have some photographs of Madresfield Court provided by one of the former owners, but I'm not sure how tricky it would be to obtain posting permission. The material is probably out of copyright.

Madresfield Court was obtained by marriage from the DeBracy family over 900 years ago, and has been in the Ligon family since (this may have changed recently). The book cited covers the history in great detail, and there are a number of websites and other sources to document the connection to the fictional Brideshead.
