Requested move 3[edit]

MDNA (album)MDNA – The Madonna's album is clearly the primary topic of MDNA. Google search engine shows 13,700,000 results for MDNA Madonna vs 136,000 results for MDNA mitochondria, it's over one-hundred times more. I don't understand why MDNA should be disambiguation, when the Mitochondrial DNA article itself doesn't use that title. Moreover, mDNA is not its only initialism, but only the alternative spelling of mtDNA. Per Google, there are 3,220,000 results for mtDNA mitochondria vs 136,000 results for mDNA mitochondria. You can see that mtDNA is more widely used for Mitochondrial DNA, rather than MDNA. Regards. Bluesatellite (talk) 12:06, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - "mdna is" clearly refers to MDNA. We have a display issue with mDNA, that's all. In ictu oculi (talk) 13:58, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • "MDNA is" a Madonna album. You used Google Book search, not the general search engine one. Of course nobody has published a book about an album released in 2012 yet. But if you type MDNA generally on http://www.google.com, then most of it will be Madonna album for sure. Bluesatellite (talk) 14:15, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Which is exactly why I didn't do that. This is an encyclopedia, we use Google Book search and Google Scholar precisely to avoid the perspective of fan pages. And I repeat we have a display issue with mDNA which makes mDNA redirect an impossibility, and with all respect to the members of WikiProject Madonna, no amount of claiming that MDNA and mDNA are different will change the simple technological reality: we have a display issue with mDNA which makes mDNA redirect an impossibility. A move proposal based on arguing against the technical limits of Wikipedia's software has failed before it started. In ictu oculi (talk) 19:15, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Add. comment: Please note that no other page here in Wikipedia is titled simply "MDNA", but Madonna album. Unless Mitochondrial DNA use "MDNA" for its article name, I can't see why we should have disambiguation. Using {{About}} at the top of the page will work perfectly in this case. For example,
This article is about the Madonna album. For the DNA, see Mitochondrial DNA. -- Bluesatellite (talk) 14:42, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per #Requested move 2 Jenks24 comment. If "mDNA" is to redirect anywhere, it should go to mitochondrial DNA, per longterm significance -- 70.24.244.161 (talk) 07:15, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per In ictu oculi. Besides, the internal stats for page traffic show Mitochondrial DNA get more traffic than the album. There is no clear indication of a primary topic here. olderwiser 12:31, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Two years ago the album would not have shown up in a google search. Two years from now, it won't either. Google can't sell mDNA, so it doesn't top-out the search results. Not really a good criterion for naming an article. Saintrain (talk) 15:28, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per long-term significance and per WP:COMMONNAME in reliable sources. I did a Google Books search, and all of the first 30 results are about Mitochondrial DNA. The first mention of Madonna is the 31st entry Madonnarama: essays on Sex and popular culture. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 18:48, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, per long term significance of the natural history topic. bd2412 T 19:51, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Proposed merge with I'm Addicted[edit]

Since it was recently suggested to propose a merge, this song doesn't warrant a separate article per WP:NSONGS as there is not significant coverage outside of album reviews from reliable secondary sources. Snuggums (talk / edits) 03:33, 27 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree the article should be merged as well. The article doesn't appear particularly active; I would suggest a BRD merge. –Chase (talk / contribs) 05:51, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • No one has challenged this merge over a week, so as Chase suggested, I'm BRDing the merge. —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 06:15, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Album Cover[edit]

Why is the Deluxe edition used at the album cover image? It should be the standard edition, like every other album page. --75.168.153.251 (talk) 19:41, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Songswriters in personnel[edit]

Is this necessary? The songwriters are already credited in the Track listing. --Jennica Talk 11:22, 25 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The personnel is reflected as the album liner notes, and its credited there although the track list also separately credits them. —IB [ Poke ] 11:31, 25 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Records[edit]

After this album was released in digital format, I think that is important to specify or mention the iTunes record that she had with this album: "the biggest day of pre-orders ever" topping the charts in 50 countries. Chrishonduras (Diskussion) 08:00, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, will include that info, but not the charts as iTunes charts are WP:BADCHARTS. —IB [ Poke ] 13:31, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's what I mean, just the information, not the charts. I just mentioned the 50 countries to specify in the text. But looks fine. Thanks. Chrishonduras (Diskussion) 17:55, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

information where Madonna talks about MDNA and working with Solvieg and working again with Orbit that can be used on Background section --Chrishm21 (talk) 21:38, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war[edit]

Ok, I'll bite -- what's wrong with http://lescharts.ch/weekchart.asp?year=2012&date=20120408&cat=a ? --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 14:16, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@SarekOfVulcan: we already have the official Swiss charts added in the article, where it shows that MDNA peaked at number 2. The IP/unregistered user is adding a local chart Swiss Romandie, which is not even affiliated with IFPI Switzerland and is generated by lescharts.com. My hunch is the IP continues to add it since in that chart, MDNA is showing as number one. —IB [ Poke ] 14:20, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
ETA: The IP keeps on changing to random numbers everytime and I have stopped explaining after the first two times also. Hence requested for protection. —IB [ Poke ] 14:22, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that clarifies it better than the edit summaries did. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 15:40, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, cause those edit summaries, IndianBio, explain nothing at all. Drmies (talk) 23:03, 25 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New source[edit]

@IndianBio: I just wanted to let you know that Glamour magazine has published a new article about the album (Madonna Released the Ultimate Divorce Album 6 Years Ago—You Just Didn't Listen). I am not certain if it would help the article at all, but I just wanted to let you know about it. Aoba47 (talk) 22:52, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, just saw it!! Thanks Aoba :) —IB [ Poke ] 23:00, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Anytime! Just wanted to help it. It is strange to see an article published about the album now. I actually really enjoy this album so it is pretty nice :). Aoba47 (talk) 23:03, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

10 Years Later[edit]

Billboard and PopMatters have both published new articles about the album because of its 10-year-anniversary. The articles are the following: Madonna’s MDNA Turns 10, But It’s No Lost Classic and Madonna Reveled in DJ Club Culture with MDNA 10 Years Ago. Both would seem useful to the article, especially from a legacy point of view. Aoba47 (talk) 13:17, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
