Quotes from JT (to whom it may concern)[edit]

(I removed most of the enormous quote in the lead section. It may be that much of what i cut can be replaced by paraphrasing the source given.)
I consider it plausivle that the "Townsendisms" section's content could be retained without violating the copyright of the work that is cited, even tho IIRC substantial curation of a pub-dom work can be copyright protected. Failing to consult (and cite) D&L's sources (and to acknowledge at least "the valuable assistance" that their compilation provided) does not prove infringement, but it does show at best a courtesy deficit, and would justify outsiders' presumption of at least willingness to infringe without certainty that one had done so. Protecting WP's interests (including credibility of our good intent) justifies treating such omission as we would clear-cut intentional copy-vio.
So i'm going to give notice to the contributor, and keep checking for correction when i think of it, until my gut tells me it's getting to be too long. At that point, i'll decide how much time i'm willing to spend on it, explore and estimate the time requirements of finding the cited work, and the works that it cites, and ultimately either repair the previous contributor('s/s') neglected work or remove that section. The clock is ticking.

OK, that contributor has not left a mark in the last six years, so my deadline may be less than a week, depending on how often the more prolific past editors have contributed.

Too many quotes[edit]

The quotes section is most of this article, and it seems like a trivia section. I cannot tell if any of it is wikipedia prose bc the quotes don't seem to be formatted properly. There are also no references to indicate that many of these are noteworthy in the least. I don't want to just delete the whole thing, but I don't have the patience to check all the quotes for notability. Hence posting this. Why are these referred to as townsendisms? Isn't that word construction (name + suffix "-isms") normally used to indicate that the terms were coined by the person? And many of the 2nd party quotes could possibly be converted to WP prose. --Xurizuri (talk) 00:52, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
