Biased?

This article seems very biased. The proud statements on the Wikipedia page are terribly imbalanced. Is this not the same zoo that was so happy with itself after they merely painted trees on the walls of one of the animal houses to 'simulate' a supposedly natural environment? Is this the same small zoo that has the same small Polar Bear exhibit that it's had for years? This article needs more statistics, because from what I've seen [disturbing, I must say] I can't believe this zoo is as wonderful as the Wikipedia article insinuates. Has it changed dramatically within the last five or ten years? This article simply needs more statistics [balanced] and the tone needs to be neutralized. Gemini79 04:34, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Well, it's not a life or death topic, and Rome wasn't built in a day. There are tons of articles that are brochure-like. Ultimately, they will be corrected. Stevie is the man! TalkWork 06:19, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Well, Currently the zoos polar Bears have been relocated temperarily to make way for the new Glacier Run polar bear exhibit ( so they are doing something about the old exhibit they have had for years ) and i think this zoo is a very good zoo compared to others i have seen.. I visit this zoo on a weekly basis since living in Louisville and really don't think this zoo is as bad as your trying to say it is.. They have several new and remodeled exhibits within the past 3 years that i have lived in Louisville, so i could say that i believe it has changed in last 5 - 10 years.. The seals and sea lions have also been relocated as their new home will also be within the new Glacier Run exhibit.. a link with information about the new Glacier Run Exhibit is located here. http://www.louisvillezoo.org/glacierrun/ And they rely on donations to be able to improve those animal exhibits... --Ltshears (talk) 22:40, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Species List

I just wanted to mention that i did add up the species list.. I am not sure if it is appropriate or not, i had seen it used on other zoo articles.. I am a weekly visitor to this zoo and i know pretty much every species this zoo houses.. I thought it could be useful to have a species list as i get very frustrated when i can't get a species list from a zoo.. They usually are not 100% complete if you do find one a zoo website, anyways, if there is a problem with the species list being used, please let me know.. --Ltshears (talk) 19:32, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

I have turned it into an expandable section, so that it does not dominate the article, which is about the zoo, not about the animals. My personal feeling is that the lists of representative animals should be part of the narrative, and should not be all inclusive. Any all inclusive list would almost certainly need to be original research anyway (see WP:OR), and would not be verifiable by other editors and readers (zoos don't tend to keep a publicly available list, and if they did, it would be much easier just to point to it). Another solution to this issue (see Zoo Basel) is to create a list article for the zoo. However, unless you want to spend an inordinate amount of time keeping things up to date (watch the activity on the Cincinnati Zoo some time for a few weeks) the list is guaranteed to always be out of date as animals are acquired, are born, and die.
