Reasoning for offering a new article, for the radio/TV program under new leadership[edit]

Please note, the proposed article title (a) matches precisely the name presented by American Public Media (APM), its distribution company and its public online face, see [1], and (b) it distinguishes the article form the related article about the show run by Chris Thile's predecessor, which was known by APM as "A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor."

Note, I am aware that there will need to be changes to the earlier APHC article—some newer material on Thile can be condensed, and that article can be made to cross-reference this one. I will wait until this article is approved before I make changes to that article. In addition, in approving this article, the other might reasonably be renamed, to the name by which APM referred to it earlier (adding the "…with Garrson Keillor" to the name, so editors do not mis-populate that article in future).

Allowing two articles will accomplish a number of things. First, it will allow the original, Garrison Keeilor-focused article to improve, as it is faced with a single task (improving its historical content), rather than two herculean tasks (improving past, while developing the new).

Second, as with change in eras of other classic television programs, creating this new article allows the article to become available as a distinct body of content describing just this new distinct program, with its new leadership, as it evolves in its new formats. (Published statements by those leading the program, and by those reviewing it, make clear that the program is distinct, but in the face of the new host, its expanded musical and comedic emphasis, but also in the elimination of the cornerstone "News from Lake Wobegon" monolog from the show, see article.)

Third, a new article allows editors coming from the venues of music closer to this host, to begin to contribute their new writing and perspective on a more blank canvas, where the initial trajectory can be made to in the direction of a high quality/GA endpoint. (As alluded to earlier, the related article, A Prairie Home Companion, has been rife with sourcing issues for years, and despite recent work, remains a quagmire of partially or unsourced material and long lists. Allowing editors interested in the new show, with its new format, to be able to create quality descriptive, encyclopedia content here, frees them of the burden of placing good material alongside bad, or correcting years of accrued problems at the other article.)

I ask rapid approval of this. The article is, as one who reviews new science articles, better and more thoroughly sourced and checked than many stub articles appearing. Cheers, Leprof 7272 (talk) 23:37, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It was submitted one day ago. Please be patient. Your draft is no more important than the other 900 awaiting review. Primefac (talk) 21:21, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Assistance invited[edit]

In addition to inviting general edits during the article review process, I would invite, in particular, someone to edit the American Public Media markup, so the box appears hidden (closed), rather than open. When articles are stubbed, open sidebar material such as that distracts from reading the shorter material that is present. Cheers, and thanks in advance. New Name[edit]

Just now, I checked Minnesota Public Radio's schedule page. Where A Prairie Home Companion used to be, the schedule now shows The Chris Thile Show. https://www.mprnews.org/schedule/sat I don't know whether or not that is actually the new name of the show, or only a place holder / temporary name used until a new name can be agreed on.

At this time, APM's website still uses A Prairie Home Companion https://www.americanpublicmedia.org/programs/ as does APHC's website https://www.prairiehome.org/ . SlowJog (talk) 16:51, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wisconsin Public Radio shows The Show with Chris Thile, WBEZ is with plain Chris Thele, and KPCC (MPR's LA flagship via APM) is still showing APHC. This is probably going to have to be a 'I guess we'll find out at 6pm Saturday night' situation unless MPR puts out a press release. Nate (chatter) 20:22, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Public radio stories on the issue basically say "we don't have a definitive name yet." I went with MPR's version for the article since it is their show. Samer (talk) 01:46, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This morning MPR aired a discussion about how this week's news might affect APHC. In that discussion, the show was referred to as "The Show with Chris Thile." As I write this, MPR has that in their schedule, with "The Show" in bold font, indicating the title, and "with Chris Thile" in pale font indicating the name of the host. SlowJog (talk) 17:18, 2 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
An MPR story suggests The Show with Chris Thile, but still seems very much like a placeholder.--Pharos (talk) 04:42, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I listen to MPR regularly and heard that too. They said on air as recently as yesterday they are still waiting to see what the new name will be. Jonathunder (talk) 19:44, 8 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is going to get a new name soon, but I think "Town Hall" was a misunderstanding. Thile was just welcoming people to the performance at the physical New York City venue, in lieu of being able to use an actual name for the show. The Guardian retracted notice of a new name being chosen.--Pharos (talk) 04:08, 4 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking the same. That show from Dec. 02 took place at Town Hall Theater in New York. SlowJog (talk) 02:51, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This looks like a good source to incorporate.--Pharos (talk) 16:33, 8 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Problem accessing the article[edit]

You can access only from the talk page of A Prarie Home Companion which has a jump titled the show with Chris thelie. The article cannot be accessed directly. 1archie99 (talk) 14:53, 22 December 2017 (UTC) 1archie99 (talk) 14:53, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

1archie99, please post a screenshot of the problem. Primefac (talk) 15:06, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I do not know how to send a screen shot that you do not need. if you search for the article "Live From Here" you will see the problem.1archie99 (talk) 15:52, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

1archie99, if you're reaching a redirect (such as Live From Here) all you need to do is click the link to Live from Here to get to the article itself. Even if you type in "Live From Here" into the url (example) it should automatically redirect you to this article. Primefac (talk) 15:53, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

never mind should. try typing Live from here into the URL. let me know if you are allowed to read for longer than a minute.1archie99 (talk) 16:10, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Article titles are case sensitive, so Live From Here is different from Live from here is different from Live from Here. I have, however, created redirects at each of the incorrect capitalizations so that they all point here. Primefac (talk) 16:17, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Updates needed[edit]

I tagged this article as needing updates. The text currently says that the last episode has already been recorded. On this evening's broadcast, I heard an announcement that the finale will be aired in September. So, we will need to change some verb tenses. Also, some references to Thile's plans for the show (e.g., Thile has indicated that the musical variety of the premiere program (see below) will continue) seem a bit dated and should be changed now.
