Why do people believe this doesn't belong here? Now that the date is here, someone should add the concrete definite goals that presumably (I have not been able to find them) Al Gore has announced.

I think people should be very interested in knowing what these goals are--and specifically where all the money is going to go. Why no interest in this?

But it should not be the main point of the article. As it is, the criticism section is giant.

Venues in Australia

There seems to be a fair bit of POV issues there, and no sources to show that Melbourne is at the forefront of acting on greenhouse emissions in Australia. This needs to be changed unless it can be verified. It smells too much of Melbournite parochialism. -- Permafrost 08:09, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

After reviewing the edit that inserted this contentious segment of information, I shall promptly remove the entire paragraph bar the capacity information in one week if there are no sources to back up the views expressed in it. All of the points in the "Melbourne" section can be dismissed, as shown below. The entire paragraph should be deleted.

- "There has been major critisism" (sic)? I haven't heard a peep and I've been following this quite closely. - "Traditionally hosts"? How many events like this have been staged before? Make Poverty History, Wave Aid ... any others? So that's one each by my count. - "Far deeper history for this type of event"? See above. - Yeah, the MCG holds 100,000, and Telstra Stadium holds 80,000. So what? If it was about numbers, why didn't they pick Telstra Stadium instead of Aussie Stadium? Other factors at work perhaps? - "Melbourne leads the country in terms of global warming and climate change awareness"? According to what measure? And even if this were true, then the logical choice would be the "less aware" city in order to bring awareness to the uneducated populace. - "Regularly draws larger crowds to music events than anywhere else in Australia"? Eh? U2's Vertigo tour had 3 shows at the 80,000 capacity Telstra Stadium, while Melbourne had 2 shows at the 55,000 capacity Telstra Dome. How many music festivals does Melbourne have compared to Sydney? Why does the BDO sell out in Sydney in 12 hours but takes days or weeks for Melbourne? Why didn't V Festival kick off in Melbourne as well as Sydney and Gold Coast? Lots of evidence against that statement, but I'm sure if you looked at crowds for recent concerts they would be more or less comparable between the cities. - "far larger local music scene" ... larger, granted perhaps, but only marginally so. But Sydney has picked up in recent years. Certainly not "far larger". - "Many argue that it would have been suitable to not only have a concert in Melbourne, but also one in Sydney, and it is not known why there is no event in Melbourne scheduled to begin with" - simply because there is only 1 concert for each continent. That's the whole concept. (Chock)

Lack of Ticket Sales?

- I've deleted the little line at the top of the article stating "However, unlike Live Aid and Live 8, a strong lack of ticket sales has been noticed." There is no citation on this statement, so I've deleted it from the page. --alexdeangelis86 15:35, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Pictures

Do we really need the pictures of the stadiums etc. at the moment? Maybe actual concert pictures after the event would be better suited, and nothing for the time being other than specific Live Earth pics.

I don't really see a problem with that. It's even a nice bit of info, IMO, since people can take a look at the sites for the concerts. I'm for reinstating them. The real problem, as I see (more on it down the page) is people putting line-ups which aren't official and helping spread misinformation through the internet. Snoop Dogg

I removed Snoop Dogg's name from the list of performers for the Brazilian concert and someone reinstated it. I just wish people were more careful about what they do and check the history page. As I stated there, you just need to check Snoop Dogg's official website to see he's gonna perform in Spain on Live Earth day. Never mind the reference to his presence in O Globo's article: that is a few weeks old, already. If he announces he changed his mind, then we can change it here. JimboB 23:28, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

I removed the news references regarding the Brazilian concert. One was a newsflash, with merely a few lines of text. The other was already dated, since it reported as confirmed artists which are still rumoured to be in the concert. The line-up isn't official yet, so it's better to have the news references removed, so people don't do wrong edits based on them. JimboB 13:33, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Concert line-ups

People insist on adding concert line-ups which are not official. How hard it is to understand that Wikipedia is not a place for unofficial info (I don't even think there should be a "Rumored" section, by the way)? For the fourth or fifth time - I really lost count - I deleted every line-up but the American, British and Aussie ones, the only ones which were OFFICIALLY announced, therefore the only ones which should be featured here. I'd be very grateful if people stopped adding confusing info. I suggest you add names to the "Rumoured" list instead, stating where is it that they're rumoured to appear at. Why do people keep deleting the Bucharest and Robert Plant entries when they're as cited as any other entries that don't get deleted ?

the first person who deleted my work couldn't even be bothered apparently to google about the item because its all over Google news. I didn't add a citation because I didn't see citation links for any other entries. Now somebody reentered the information with a cited link and that gets deleted too.

It's being reported by half a dozen mainstream news sources that he has signed on to perform there. That isn't a "rumor". The only rumor involved with is the notion that it will actually be a Led Zeppelin reunion (IE, Page and Jones will join him). Robert Plant is different than Led Zeppelin. A Led Zeppelin reunion is a rumor, Robert Plant at Live Earth is not.

German show additions?

I'm going to remove some names from the German list. I cannot find any official confirmation of the following performers on either the LiveEarth site or their personal websites. In some cases, these artists are scheduled to perform elsewhere. The artists being removed: Maria Mena MIA Samy Deluxe Stefan Gwiblis

Also removing "Strings" from the US list, the link leads to a disambig page and the only band listed on that page is from Pakistan, so they are unlikely. Risker 16:57, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
