2011 aircraft movement stats added[edit]

I have made a 2nd table for aircraft movements data from airways NZ stats.CHCBOY (talk) 10:03, 19 March 2012 (UTC) Add note regarding Hamilton airport below the table.CHCBOY (talk) 20:20, 21 March 2012 (UTC). Extended the 2 tables with more airports and data added and corrected to full name for DUD airport.CHCBOY (talk) 01:06, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have now added the movement tables for the following two years in order to give the viewer a complete picture.CHCBOY (talk) 10:55, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

IATA CODES[edit]

I have added the Iata codes for all airports for an extra reference.CHCBOY (talk) 01:38, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

2012 table[edit]

I have completed all the data for the 2012 table with refs and have added Rotorua to both tables so both now have data for the top 12 airports in NZ. CHCBOY (talk) 12:41, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Combine tables?[edit]

Would it be worth combining the passenger tables into one sortable table, with an extra column for 2013 figures when known, and other columns showing percentage change each year? That would leave a table looking like this (top item only shown in this example, with hypothetical 2013 data):

Rank Airport IATA Location Passengers
(2011)
Passengers
(2012)
Change
(2011–12)
Passengers
(2013)
Change
(2012–13)
1. Auckland International Airport AKL Auckland 13,703,043[1] 14,160,640[2] +3.34% 14,603,400 +3.13%

Grutness...wha? 10:20, 19 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I prefer it left the way it is as same format as other countries lists one table for each year and same as the ATI lists which have the top 50 airports each year by passengers. CHCBOY (talk) 11:00, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • Fair enough. Just think that eventually it's going to get messy if there's a new table added to the page every year. Grutness...wha? 23:45, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not really messy all it will have is a new year table added to the top. Just like the other articles see here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_busiest_airports CHCBOY (talk) 03:23, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe it won't be messy after this year's table is added... but think a couple of years down the track - you'll have an article made with several lists one after the other. Scrolling between them to compare figures will become a horrible task. And given that a lot of the information will be identical from table to table (IATA code, location) combining them seemed to make sense. But if the usual practice is separate tables, I've no objection to this one staying that way. Grutness...wha? 21:37, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Guess what five years later it is messy! as predicted. The big question is why this is encyclopaedic? Andrewgprout (talk) 03:15, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

References

  • I don't see it as messy. It is the same layout as other List of busiest airport pages on wiki. Running top to bottom eg:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_busiest_airports_in_France https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_busiest_airports_in_Japan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_busiest_airports_in_Canada The problem with combining the lists into one running sideways is that the cities change order in the list frequently which makes a combined table unworkable. Not sure why it is encyclopedic but they have been on wiki for years and are a useful tool for people doing research. There is now 80 of these lists in this category: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Lists_of_busiest_airports CHCBOY (talk) 19:35, 2 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Correct references[edit]

Today I found a ref for Auckland used on the Queenstown line. Many other corrections had to be done to fix the page. Also removed bare URLS that were recently added as they are subject to Link Rot. Some references provided did not match with the corresponding data. ALL citations need to be full with title, date as well as the URL.CHCBOY (talk) 03:00, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Gisborne[edit]

I have added an extra row to each year for Gisborne airport ranked 15th. Due to the reliable sources found by the owner Eastland group it's annual reports being available online.CHCBOY (talk) 21:11, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
