Men's 400 record[edit]

Often times, Thrope's race isn't considered as a textile swim due to the full-body suit he wore that would be illegal today. Many then consider Sun Yang's 400 free from the 2012 London Olympics to be the true textile record. Just a suggestion: would it be a good idea to include that in the article as well?

In general, any times pre-2009 aren't considered 'textile' due to the difficulty in determining the efficacy of older full-body suits worn relative to today's suits. The one exception would be Phelps's 2007 200 fly; he wore a Fastskin 2 jammer which in that cut would be perfectly legal today and was quite a popular suit for age groupers to wear legally post-2009 until its recent discontinuation by speedo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ScoobyScoo (talk • contribs) 01:40, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Plans for the future[edit]

World records won't stay forever. What should we do with this page after all the world records turn into textile ones? I think we should keep the page even if there are no more, because people can go through the history and revisions to see what were the textile records at the time.
