Maestro[edit]

The term Maestro has been used by Gibson for some of their premium products... at the very least, for their home design tremolo arms (they also offer licensed Bigsby units, but these are not described as Maestros) and for the classic fuzz box used on (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction:

Question... where in Wikipedia should these very significant devices be described? In particular, Maestro (disambiguation) should have a link to some article on Gibson guitars... where to exactly? Andrewa (talk) 12:53, 22 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree an article on the Maestro devices is likely warranted. There's an article (imperfect but good basis) online that claims to be about the Maestro PS-1 phase shifter but ranges much wider.

note for editors: no red links[edit]

On a List, any entry that does not have a Wikipedia article is not notable, therefore should not be included. Any "red link" entry that does not have an external reference should be immediately deleted.

BTW, of the six References claimed in this mulchpile, four point to the top of the same page. While there appears to be very good info there, it is nevertheless one guy's blog, and therefore whether it meets WP standards is dubious.

Another note: any list such as this MUST exhibit some form of curation. Unless effort is expended to indicate WHEN each model was offered, it becomes nothing more than a heap of articles related only vaguely — except for the coincidence of a brand name, there's really no relationship whatever between a pre-Loar mandolin and a 2019 SG.

And to reiterate an earlier point: if there's no article, it's not notable, and therefore should not be a List entry. Anyone who feels a burning need to stack this up like a demented squirrel ought instead go back to the main article (here, Gibson) and put in some prose, e.g. paraphrasing some secondary source that overviewed the wonders of Gibson amplifiers or maybe Earl Scruggs banjos.

link cleanup[edit]

Per the recent AFD and the above comments by Weeb Dingle, I've cleaned up the red links and white links from this article. Interestingly, all the references were on red links or white prose. Since this list is meant to be navigational, the links are removed and the references went with them--leaving this list completely unreferenced. -- Mikeblas (talk) 16:49, 6 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
