James Rennie?[edit]

The James Rennie linked in this article is an entomologist. Maybe someone needs to start an article called James Rennie (engineer)? JonRichfield (talk) 15:08, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Error, should be John Rennie! Paravane (talk) 16:34, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Criteria for new additions[edit]

There are currently less than a hundred buildings in this list out of many thousands which have been demolished in London. There is scope for expansion, but there is also a need to avoid the page becoming too large. Notionally, the buildings which should be included should be the most notable out of all that have existed in the past.

I have removed Lyndhurst Hall because I think it is out of place amongst the other entries. It does not seem to be an especially notable building, and also it is not in central London - Hampstead was a separate place until relatively recently.

One approach to accommodating more buildings like Lyndhurst Hall might be to set up additional lists - perhaps for individual boroughs, which would allow for the inclusion of buildings of particular local interest. Paravane (talk) 18:23, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the clarification Paravane – must confess I wasn't entirely sure. It's notable in social terms, but location and architecture seem to count against when compared to the others. Separate borough pages sound a good idea – or demolished buildings could be themed in some other logical way (eg, by era or purpose). Libby norman (talk) 20:09, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Notable omissions[edit]

The Baltic Exchange (building) seems historically and architecturally significant: should it be included? anonymous comment by 81.145.202.106 15 June 2017‎

Agreed - destruction by bombs shouldn't be limited to WW2. I was surprised to note its absence from this list. Grunners (talk) 15:33, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Streets?[edit]

Entire streets seem to be included, whereas that doesn't seem to be the intention in the title, should a new page be made for these perhaps? Quidquodquo (talk) 15:45, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
