February 2019 update[edit]

The update to the most recently available source lists and taxonomy (as of February 2019) required many systematic changes to the article as well as changes within families. Rather than note them at every occurrence I list them here.

The format of each family's header is changed to be the same as that of nearly all other lists of birds, with the only links being to the scientific names of Order and Family. The format change is noted in the edit summary only when it is the only change.
The titles of each family section are generally those of Clements, though a few are modified to better reflect the species in the list. For instance, Vireonidae is titled "Vireos" rather than "Vireos, shrike-babblers, and erpornis".
Changes to English names, genera, and specific epithets and changes to the sequence of species within a family are all from Clements, as implied in the introduction. They are noted but not sourced in the edit summaries.
The sources of additions and deletions within each family are noted in the edit summaries.
The format of the tag (rare/accidental) is changed to (A) for consistency with most other lists of birds.
