Sourcing.[edit]

Any additional sourcing is emphatically encouraged! Will be working on that periodically throughout the week. --Cinemaniac86Dane_Cook_Hater_Extraordinaire 20:02, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Note: Need a solid source for "Stars of Tomorrow" blurb at the top, if anyone can help. Pulled this from table on previous article: "A group of theater exhibitors named Bette Davis, Joan Blondell, and Ginger Rogers "Stars of tomorrow". The ceremony was held at the Ambassador Hotel in Hollywood, and broadcast live on radio. This was Bette's first acting award." Just an awards summary. --Cinemaniac86Dane_Cook_Hater_Extraordinaire 06:16, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Is this Article Needed?[edit]

Curious why an entirely separate article for Davis' awards and nominations is needed? Seems very repetitious to information already available on the subject's article. MonicaAng (talk) MonicaAng (talk) 07:56, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's not. That section only covered a slight portion, primarily the Oscars, while this fleshes out in greater detail all awards, from major to minor. And as alluded to above, its also a dynamic list. I can assure you "entirely separate articles" exist for actors with much smaller awards history than this legend. Hopefully more sources can be accrued over time. Might need to dig for some of those dorky old Hollywood books I bought a while ago. --Cinemaniac86Dane_Cook_Hater_Extraordinaire 10:16, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Out of curiosity, which actors have entire articles devoted only to their awards and nominations? MonicaAng (talk) 03:40, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, numerous! Katharine Hepburn, Paul Newman, Al Pacino, Maggie Smith, Laurence Olivier, Vanessa Redgrave, Robert De Niro, Ellen Burstyn, Daniel Day-Lewis, Kate Winslet, Cate Blanchett....It gets easier, as you get more modern of course. Emma Stone, Leonardo DiCaprio, Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Michelle Yeoh, et al. The modern have the advantages of more awards to beef up the individual articles even more. Now that there are like 80 critics' awards, and half of those want to do nominations these days. Plus, more coverage means easier to keep track, less chance of some being overlooked. I was surprised by a few who didn't have their own. Like Charlie Chaplin, Joan Crawford, etc., but I suppose there are just a few whose awards history is minuscule and again, it's just the times and perhaps disadvantages/timing. Still deserve an expanded section. I like that Crawford has all of hers in tables on her filmography article. Maybe an extended writeup with it. Maybe that's what I could do for Chaplin's, a minitable at the bottom. --Cinemaniac86Dane_Cook_Hater_Extraordinaire 03:48, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting. I had no idea. MonicaAng (talk) 03:28, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
