title in capital letters[edit]

i changed the title... to put capital letters in a title is out of... how to say it politically correctly? a logo can appear in the article though... kernitou talk 06:15, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Amita[edit]

I'm not sure who keeps adding the 'ship references back into this article, but please stop. According to Cheryl Heuton, the character will not be deciding between Harvard and Charlie in season three, but which job is best for her career. Wikipedia is not the place to project fan desires, but what has been shown in the canon of the series. A possible relationship with Charlie is mentioned already as well as her stated point that she wasn't ready for anything serious at this time. When/if something happens on-screen, then by all means it will be added into the article. --LadyShelley 19:10, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

One shot characters?[edit]

Do we really want to have one shot characters like Merrick and Billy Cooper? These are characters that will likely never be seen on the series again. If we take this as an example, just about any character seen in the series could be listed. --LadyShelley 19:36, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If we are limiting this page only to characters who may continue in supporting or recurring roles, then Terri Lake ought to be removed as well. Besides, while Merrick's reappearance might be a long shot, there is a possibility that Billy Cooper may make another appearance. Max Martini may take a hiatus from The Unit, or the series might be cancelled. Given the character's popularity among NUMB3RS fans, and the fact that both the creators and some members of the main cast keep an eye on fan sites, it's not a completely far-fetched idea. --Lady Eternal 01:13, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

If that happens, we can put the information back in. For now, those two really don't belong. -- Beardo (talk) 02:46, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ian Edgerton[edit]

Do we need the line about the tremor in his hand. When I watched the episode, it was clear to me that this was done to scare the informant. Obviously Edgerton had no problem making the shot in the end. I believe the tremor was just for show. Prsgoddess187 20:55, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. And even if it wasn't intentional, it's too trivial a detail for an encyclopedia article. If Edgerton comes back and it's a plot point, the fact that it was foreshadowed can be added back in. Kolindigo 21:19, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know who added the "kickboxing and kung fu" line to Ian's character description, but it's pointless, baseless and does not conform to anything in canon. Hand-to-hand combat is standard training for military, DOJ agents and law enforcement. Nothing has been specifically cited or shown that would identify either of those disciplines as something Ian studied, let alone long enough to be itemized. More importantly, *there was absolutely nothing in "Two Daughters" to indicate Ian had kickboxed the teenager into rolling on Crystal*. Nothing. Such speculation could go on all day about Ian's background, including what branch of the military he came from, as he is seen wearing military fatigues and dog tags in his second season appearance. But, as has been pointed out regarding other points in this entire article, until it becomes canon, it doesn't belong here.- 3/3/08 LadyEternal —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.1.21.11 (talk) 03:26, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with the line "Ian has apparently known Don since before the series began, likely dating to Don's tenure as a tactical instructor at Quantico". The first time Ian Edgerton was introduced in "Sniper Zero" Don addressed him "Agent Edgerton?", like a question; like he was confirming that he was who he thought he was. This wouldn't have been the case if they had known each other previously. I don't believe they knew each other before the start of the series, except perhaps by reputation. Fair use rationale for Image:Dr. Mildred Finch.jpg[edit]

Image:Dr. Mildred Finch.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

David Sinclair[edit]

Why isn't David Sinclair listed as a main character? He is the only of Don's agents who's there since season 1. I think he falls in the same category of Colby, if not higher... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.86.193.35 (talk) 07:19, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

I think this article should be merged into the main Numb3rs article. There are only 13 characters listed here, more than half of which already exist on the main page. 70.22.154.184 (talk) 21:07, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seems like a good idea. NuclearWarfare (talk) 17:51, 2 July 2008 (UTC) Although this page HAS to be rewritten first. NuclearWarfare (talk) 17:51, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
How would you propose merging the articles so it's not a total dump into the main article? Do these characters need to be mentioned at all? My larger concern is this will bulk up the main article with information that may not necessarily need to be there. --LadyShelley (talk) 00:43, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
[Apologies for coming late to this] If the information is not necessary in the main article, then why would it be necessary here, unless Wiki is to become IMDb writ small ? -- Simon Cursitor (talk) 06:55, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Have you seen the articles for the main characters, they are long and huge. The character articles need to either stay where they are or be deleted all together. I honestly don't see them getting deleted as it would become a constant battle almost weekly as someone tries to restart one. If the majority want to character articles on the main page (thus doing away with separate ones) then there will need to be very strict guidelines as to what is included, if anything, beyond basic
"This is Don Eppes, he's an FBI agent. Charlie Eppes is his brother and a professor of mathematics at the fictional CalSci University in California."
Now there is nothing wrong with short sweet statements like that, it just needs to be stated very clearly that nothing else is to be added to the article beyond this.
If you only mean to merge some of the character descriptions, how will you determine which ones are a mere mention and which ones warrant full, separate articles? The series now has twelve characters defined as "regular cast" (This includes past characters like Megan Reeves and Terry Lake. Even leaving these two aside that still leaves ten characters defined as "regular")
I'm not trying to be difficult, but we need to stop and think about how this is going to work, before we do it. --LadyShelley (talk) 23:50, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
With respect, no. You are falling into the trap that the hyper-inclusionists use: that, unless something is clearly outisde an article (e.g. irrelevant, PoV or advertising), then it should be left in, for "completeness". "It doesn't matter," they say; "This isn't taking up paper." The truth is that, if you believe an aricle can be improved, you make the improvement. If someone else disagrees, they say so, and a consensus is formed. Discussing it first, simply means that the inclusionists can extend the argument/discussion, and then plead that there's no consensus. -- Simon Cursitor (talk) 06:50, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's not what I'm saying at all. My point is if the character pages need to be reincorporated into the main article, we need to decide what information to keep and what needs to be tossed. We also have to state clearly in the article the what's and wherefores so we aren't constantly reintegrating character pages when they are recreated (and they will be recreated). The main article is about the series; the characters are only one piece of that, so unless you want the main article page to become a dumping ground for character trivia, we need to think a little bit on how this will all work and note it in the markup for the page so future editors understand why it was done in whatever manner we decide to use.--LadyShelley (talk) 03:44, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Former Characters" Vs. "Other Characters"[edit]

I feel that the "Former Characters" section should be reserved for characters who used to appear regularly on the show but have since departed the series permanently, while "Other Characters" should be used for characters who either aren't part of the main cast but appear regularly, or for prominent recurring characters who still appear on the series. Just because Finch or Edgerton made no appearances in Season Four doesn't mean they won't appear in Season Five. WARendfeld (talk) 15:13, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Numb3rsCastorig.jpg[edit]

The image Image:Numb3rsCastorig.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.
