Can we change the name of this page? I don't have any concrete suggestions, but "List of noteworthy Koreans in Japan" or some such seems as accurate. (>_<) elvenscout742 (talk) 14:08, 21 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:LISTNAME (emphasis added)
The title is not expected to contain a complete description of the list's subject. Many lists are not intended to contain every possible member, but this does not need to be explained in the title itself. For example, the correct choice is List of people from the Isle of Wight, not List of people who were born on or strongly associated with the Isle of Wight and about whom Wikipedia has an article. Instead, the detailed criteria for inclusion should be described in the lead, and a reasonably concise title should be chosen for the list. Best practice is usually to avoid words like notable, famous, noted, prominent, etc. in the title of a list article. Similarly, avoid titles like List of all Xs.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't mean to suggest that the word "noteworthy" should be included; I actually think of "noteworthy" as something like a peacock word that should be avoided at all costs. I mentioned that only to clarify my concern with the current title, which when I first saw it made me laugh ("Why would I want a list of Koreans in Japan? That seems like a violation of their privacy..." :P ). Anyway, I guess you're right, and there are probably other lists with the same issue. elvenscout742 (talk) 07:33, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure you know the list was split from Koreans in Japan#Notable Koreans and Japanese citizens of Korean descent in Japan last month.[1] The list was mainly added by Koreans who are proud of the notable Koreans in Japan instead of a violation of their privacy. However a user is not satisfied the inclusion of List of Koreans in Japan#Crime. See Talk:Koreans in Japan#List of famous Koreans in Japan. A typical nationalism is cumbersome.―― Phoenix7777 (talk) 09:19, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
O-K-A-Y... you will forgive me for running home with my tail between my legs, then... elvenscout742 (talk) 12:53, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think there must be a better term than REAL NAME; as it suggests that Japanese readings or other legal names are an alias, rather than a legitimate name. 60.42.145.96 (talk) 05:42, 28 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Especially since the Japanese reading is often their legal name and the REAL NAME is not. 2400:4053:4620:4B00:6138:680:8768:3EE8 (talk) 05:40, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
