A fact from List of Germans convicted of war crimes committed in Italy during World War II appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 3 November 2018 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that most Germans who committed war crimes in Italy during World War II never faced justice?
List of German people convicted of war crimes committed in Italy during World War II[edit]
I noticed your edit to List of German people convicted of war crimes committed in Italy during World War II and wondered whether you could think how to shorten the extremely long article title in any way without leading to ambiguity? By the way, I did in the end follow your advice and nominated two articles I created for DYK, after initially not being so keen on it. Turismond (talk) 06:10, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Turismond: How do you feel about "List of Germans convicted of war crimes in Italy during World War II"? I don't think that's too ambiguous. I can't think of a way to make it shorter than that, though. Catrìona (talk) 06:13, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure. Does it technically mean the list should only include Germans who were convicted of war crimes in Italy during World War II, e.g. between 1939 and 1945, not Germans convicted since 1945? The Semantics of sentences like this is not my strong side.Turismond (talk) 06:29, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The logical way to parse in would be "List of Germans convicted of (war crimes in Italy during World War II)". At least that's my view. Catrìona (talk) 06:51, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
