Untitled[edit]

The new table does not allow for making note of EMI Columbia artists such as Frank Ifield. Can it be altered to indicate performers on EMI's Columbia label?

Merge proposal[edit]

We have two redundant articles, List of Columbia Records artists and Columbia Records artists. The first one is in a table format and the other is a straight list. They should be combined. Alphabetical order[edit]

Just to throw a curve ball in here: on what alphabetical basis do we include our entries? Should Barry Manilow be under 'M' or 'B', and what about Chuck D? I would propose that they be listed in order as they would appear in wikipedia except possibly for the "the"s, thus there will at least be some uniformity - the added advantage is that it will prevent an entry of 'Nas (rapper)' from reappearing under 'Nasir "Nas" Jones'.

Also, should we break up the table, at least into sections, so that it can be navigated more easily from the TOC? Ohconfucius 06:30, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Broken tables[edit]

Splitting this article into List of Columbia Records artists and Columbia Graphophone Company (EMI) artists[edit]

Splitting the table into a list[edit]

Too many acts without Wikipedia articles.[edit]

I just cut two acts not supported by articles about them in Wikipedia. I also fixed the Ray Bryant link. Unless there is are articles about the acts in Wikipedia, I think the dead link acts should be deleted from this article. Steelbeard1 (talk) 23:51, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I know this is an old edit, but I was wondering if deleting artists without pages was a good decision. My thought was a paper based encyclopedia would not necessarily include only folks that had a corresponding article in this kind of situation. Useless list[edit]

Peter McIan[edit]

Even though he doesn't have a Wikipedia page (yet), I can prove Peter McIan (whom I added to the page recently) was a Columbia recording artist: https://www.discogs.com/Peter-McIan-Playing-Near-The-Edge/release/2100786 This is a Discogs listing for Playing Near the Edge, his only album as an artist.
