Untitled[edit]

This list is designed to work as a compilation of famous Caulfield Grammarians, and also means that an organised list can replace the one that was cluttering the main school article. Harro5 10:17, Jun 14, 2005 (UTC)

The Caulfield Grammar School's Internet hookup is User:203.94.146.234, from which all edits of the last 100 have been vandalism, laboriously reverted. The exceptions are additions to this "list": it is impossible to verify any names on this list. All redlinks at this article can be especially expected to be hoaxes and should be deleted. A Caulfield Grammar School connection for all the others is highly unlikely. The official list of Caulfield Grammarians is not available at

A semi-official list is at

All red-linked names on the list are too dubious to be retained at Wikipedia. --Wetman 06:19, 12 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

In response to Wetman, many of the redlinks in this article were for people added to the list by me. A Google search of most, if not all - I remember sifting through many sites, along with Caulfield Grammar School should have a legitimate source (often a biography) on the person verifying both their achievements and that they attended CGS. Sorry Harro5. I got a bit confused/forgetful. One of my old schoolmates went to Wesley College for a while and told me about it, but I got the schools mixed up. I've been around I while so I hope you'll trust that it wasn't a purposefully mischievous edit.Blnguyen | Have your say!!! 07:20, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dane[edit]

Anyone know anything about this?[1] I can't trace him as being at CGS.149.171.240.62 (talk) 13:14, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

More "people in red"[edit]

Over the last couple of days I have added a number of eminent individuals to the "CGS people" listing. I recognize that the greater preponderance of the additions are "red"; however, given the obvious eminence of most of those that I have added, it should be considered to be a Wiki-problem -- namely, they have not yet created articles for these people, several being "knights of the realm", another a Rear-Admiral (all far from being "non-eminent") -- and that they certainly warrant a place here. We can just hope that they get dedicated articles soon. I have done my best to give some leads on where biographical information may be found.

Also, in my foraging, I came across a biography of one James Kerr Johnston (1888-1984) -- CGS 1903 (incorrectly listed as "JohnstonE" at Webber (1981), p.299) -- which has a photo of a school prize certificate issued by W. M. Buntine in 1903, as well as some recollections of travel on the CGS horse bus.[2] 149.171.240.62 (talk) 22:16, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of Caulfield Grammar School people[edit]

Why does this section have this title, rather than either "List of Caulfield Grammar School Alumni" or, even better, "List of Caulfield Grammarians"?

The reason for my question is that, given its present title, it seems inevitable that, for example, "John Morrison (Australian author) John Gorden Morrison (1904-1998)", who worked for so many years as a gardener at the East St Kilda campus, must be included in any list of CGS "people";[3] because he was certainly such a person.149.171.240.62 (talk) 22:16, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, the preceding comments should not be interpreted in such a way that I am accused of not thinking that John Morrison would be "appropriate" for inclusion in the list; with his large hat, spectacles and pipe, I can still see him today, and hear his voice. It is just that, if it really is for CGS "people", it is my view that he should be one of the first to be so listed. If it is not for CGS "people" then the title of the article ought to be changed to something more suitable to its purpose.149.171.240.62 (talk) 01:17, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Caulfield logo.gif[edit]

Image:Caulfield logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
