Rhodesia[edit]

The Lions also played a number of matches against Rhodesia and East Africa. Maybe these should be noted too.--MacRusgail (talk) 14:38, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A fair point but I believe these weren't regarded as test matches as such - i.e. the Lions team selected wasn't necessarily the full international, strongest team available. Having said which, there are games included in the list which also fall into that category and which aren't regarded as Lions "caps" games, such as the matches against Fiji in 1977 and the home game against Argentina prior to the 2005 tour. Historically I think that Lions tests were only considered to be the games against the national teams of South Africa, New Zealand and Australia, and the old Rothmans Yearbooks only listed Lions tests against those sides, with the rest being simply regarded as tour games. Be interesting to see what other thoughts come up from other RU Wikipedians as to whether these games should be added.--Bcp67 (talk) 15:35, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
