Requested move 27 February 2022[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: moved. No objections to the actual renaming, which is supported by policy. What point to split the articles does not have enough discussion yet, so that discussion can continue in a separate talk page section, and the articles can be moved again later. – I don't know why 2005 was used as the break (rather than 1999/2000), but there should be some sort of consistency here. List of 3D films should be a dab page as well. (CC) Tbhotch 18:46, 27 February 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. 🐶 EpicPupper (he/him | talk) 19:23, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If there is no industry rational for the above split and a split is needed then a better one should be done as 2005 seems very random. Regarding the nom, MOS:TOPRESENT is clear that the nom is correct. Gonnym (talk) 19:55, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No objection to the renaming nor the creation of a dab page.
When the list was originally split, 2005 was chosen because it was the year the first fully 3D digital title was released (Chicken Little). Barry Wom (talk) 10:43, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What about List of 3D films (20th century) and List of 3D films (21st century) or something similar? Axem Titanium (talk) 01:45, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The 21st century list would need to be split at some point. (CC) Tbhotch 17:46, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Then let it be split when it needs to be. Write for the present. It is unlikely to need a split before the requisite 7 days of this requested move elapse. Axem Titanium (talk) 21:09, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And that's pretty much why I proposed "List of 3D films (2005–present)", which can easily be moved to "List of 3D films (2005–20XX)" when it is required rather by letting people in the future to determine when to break a 100 years threshold. (CC) Tbhotch 02:05, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The first list should have the end year as 2004 rather than 2005. Barry Wom (talk) 09:26, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Corrected. (CC) Tbhotch 23:35, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What happened to the Avatar sequels?[edit]

So the Avatar sequels have been removed from the list mainly Avatar 2 since that's already confirmed to be in 3D (so can we re-add Avatar 2,3,5) MOVIEFAN2001 (talk) 03:15, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Avatar 2 and 3 are already listed. It's too early to include 4 and 5 as there's currently no guarantee they'll actually get made. Barry Wom (talk) 06:55, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable Sources[edit]

I just added the 2023 Disney films The Little Mermaid and Haunted Mansion as DNEG's website is listing them in the stereo section of their site aswell as mentioning the names of the stereo supervisors. Since I cited DNEG's website for those 2 films would that be a reliable source to add to the list? MOVIEFAN2001 (talk) 10:19, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see why a company providing 3D services shouldn't be considered a reliable source. I've gone ahead and added some titles that are listed on their site. Barry Wom (talk) 13:05, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Filmed" vs "Shot"?[edit]

If there's a distinction between these two terms, it's not made clear. 2A02:8012:721D:1:78B2:5112:F761:369 (talk) 13:04, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and edited to "Filmed" when I realized how prevalant that term was. 2A02:8012:721D:1:78B2:5112:F761:369 (talk) 13:17, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
