Spelling of "Arkansaw Traveler"

The spelling of "Arkansaw Traveler" is correct and should not be "Arkansas". Also, the quotes are directly from the song, but due to the age of the song, it is in public domain.

The title is spelled variously, more often as "Arkansas Traveler" but also as "Arkansas Traveller" and as the unsigned contributor notes above, as "Arkansaw Traveler". The latter of the three, however, is the least common, though it is apparently the spelling used for Spencer's recording. Spencer's personal background

The article, which nicely handles Spencer's professional background, lacks biographical information beyond this. Checking elsewhere, I found that Leonard Garfield Spencer was the son of Platt Rogers Spencer, a teacher who developed Spencerian script, a form of business penmanship popular from the mid-19th century through the early 20th century. I'll try to rectify this, though it all depends on what I'm able to dig up.

As an additional note, the lead paragraphs of this article are "mirrored" as Len Spencer's biography on the Discography of American Historical Recordings. I presume this is part of the good work of the Wikipedia editor (now semi-retired) @AudioHistoryAnon, who apparently updated/improved the original lead and than contributed the same to the DAHR website. Correction: Leonard was the grandson of Platt Rogers Spencer. He was the brother of Henry C. Spencer and the son of Henry Caleb Spencer. But before I go further - lots of Spencers to track down - I'll leave it at that. Allreet (talk) 20:11, 13 December 2022 (UTC)
