Welsh language research[edit]

Recently the article was expanded by myself using 'DWB', and now I'd like to ask for more information to do with referencing foreign language sources for the English Wikipedia site. To be more specific, Welsh language references, in particular a Welsh books. Futhermore, what is the ruling on translating cited references?? Cltjames (talk) 20:46, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Cltjames: The Wikipedia policy is at WP:NONENG. Basically, it is ok to cite sources in a language other than English. The citations should specify the original (Welsh) titles of the book, article or chapter, and any direct quotations should include the original language. It is good practice to also provide translations of the non-English components of citations. If you are using {{Cite book}} or similar templates then you should use "|trans-title=", "|trans-chapter=" and "|trans-quote=" for this. You can make translations yourself (if you are competent), but you should not copy an extended quotation that is subject to a translator's copyright. You are welcome to ask for help on my user talk page, or you could try Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Wales. Regards, Verbcatcher (talk) 23:47, 7 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
