Dialect[edit]

The "Definition" and the entire article, really, is focused heavily on British English. Much of what is said would have to be changed to apply accurately to American legal English. Perhaps mention that as the last sentence of the Definition section.

Formally?[edit]

I'm sceptical about the final sentence of the introduction, saying that legal English is "formally referred to as lawspeak or legalese". Isn't it formally referred to as "legal English" but colloquially as "lawspeak" or "legalese"? I have a hard time picturing a formal document such as, well, a legal contract or an Act of Parliament making casual reference to "lawspeak". Binabik80 (talk) 20:31, 11 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"intuitive execution, complete meaning and open upgrade"[edit]

The introductory paragraph of this article uses a bunch of terms that are very far from self-explanatory (and don't link to anything particularly useful for interpreting them elsewhere in Wikipedia). I don't have access to any of the references cited in the paragraph (which appear to all be books), so I have no idea if these are bits of extremely obscure linguistic jargon (so obscure that it can't be found by Google searches, except on copies of this page), or if they are just nonsense that doesn't mean anything at all. I'd like to dramatically rewrite the introduction to be clearer, but without access to any of the references, I'm not sure I can do it justice. BlckKnght (talk) 01:51, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
