History[edit]

I'm building a history of the western part of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, including Garden State Park, the Latin Casino, the Cherry Hill Inn, and the Rickshaw Inn.

{{helpme}} Could someone please explain how a 3,000 seat nightclub that was a major landmark be considered "low importance?"

Photos[edit]

I used to have some cool stuff from Emerald City. I was friends with the owner's son Billy. Or grandson depending on if you remember Charles or Dallas being the owner :)

Their basement was piled to the ceiling with pictures and albums and I remember seeing an old gold record hanging on the wall...

Good old times. Imagine my surprise when I found out the kid really was a close personal friend to Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr...

The Latin Casino had to shut down because of an entertainment contract rule that didn't allow performers to do gigs within 50 miles of each other. The AC casinos were a little less than 50 miles away. The decision was made to make a disco but it was a little too late and there was way too much money spent on the laser not to mention the rest of the light show. They were able to turn it into a rock club. WMMR had their 13th anniversary there in 1981 and broadcast Pat Benatar live. I saw many concerts there that year.

I don't know why things went downhill after that. Billy's sister Jody is an executive VP for EMI Music in CA. Ask her :) Vulcanjedi 18:20, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
