Possible primary topic[edit]

I have reverted a cut'n'paste move of this dab page to Lakhnauti (disambiguation). The attempted move was apparently to instate Lakhnauti as a redirect to a primary topic at Gauḍa (city). It should be noted that this was previously discussed and rejected several years ago, although without a great deal of discussion specifically about a primary topic. So this almost certainly needs to be discussed before any more is done. A formal move discussion is one possibility, but we could start here and see if there is any opposition. Requested move 13 December 2022[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. The result of the move request was: moved. Consensus in the discussion is that Gauḍa (city) is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for the term "Lakhnauti". (non-admin closure) ModernDayTrilobite (talkcontribs) 16:03, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

LakhnautiLakhnauti (disambiguation) – The term Lakhnauti in scholarship almost always refers to Gauḍa, the former royal capital of Bengal. The other uses are much less common. I want to make Lakhnauti a redirect to Gauḍa, and move its current content to Lakhnauti (disambiguation). @SalamAlayka, DrVogel, and TheAafi: queried move request Happily888 (talk) 07:40, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Although my personal opinion is that this move is probably a good shout, there are several things that make me think this is probably not uncontroversial... 1) primary topic claim, 2) this, and 3) this. Dr. Vogel (talk) 16:06, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • I agree with @DrVogel. @SalamAlayka, do you have any established sources that could help us ascertain that the term "Lakhnauti" has been significantly used for Gauda? If not, then it is best fit for the dab, or otherwise needs a discussion. ─ The Aafī (talk) 05:24, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
      • @TheAafi: @DrVogel: If we do compare it to the other two uses of Lakhnauti, it may be clearer for everyone. The village Lakhnauti Turk does not seem to be too notable, and the city of Lucknow is almost always referred to as Lucknow in the English language (and the etymology section of that article suggests Lucknow having come from Lakhnauti is more of a theory; I can't find any indications of Lucknow actually being referred to as Lakhnauti either). When I searched "Lakhnauti" on Google Books, all of the results on the first page are referring to the former Bengali capital. SalamAlayka (talk) 13:11, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. The first couple of pages of GBook search all refer to Gaur/Gauda. As the nom points out, other uses are minor. No such user (talk) 08:29, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
