Aphid[edit]

I was actually just about to add that bit now -- it's the National Weather Service's official name for it (see Historic Lake Effect Snow Storm of October 12-13, 2006 which should actually be in references rather than external links). It looks like the media have (almost?) settled on "October Surprise" but they seem to keep sort of changing it, and it looks to me as though they are still feeling about for a proper name. Mix of metric/imperial units[edit]

self-references!!![edit]

Hi. Apparently, the list of references includes wikipedia mirrors and wikinews articles. These are considered self-references. I can't fix this myself right now because removing those would leave areas unreferenced, so I suggest using refernces that wikinews cites, for example. Trimmed down meterological details[edit]

I've trimmed down the detailed weather forcasting details from the week before the storm. This level of detail isn't necessary in an encyclopedia article, and it's quite confusing to those who are not weather experts. External links and references can document the storm in its full meteorological glory. :-) ATren (talk)

Name[edit]

@United States Man: If you want this moved to 2006 October Buffalo storm, then you need to start a discussion. Aphid was the original title of the article. Someone else moved it to the Buffalo title and I moved it back. EDIT: Actually, I would recommend just waiting until after the other discussion closes and just use the consensus on the unofficial names from it to determine what happens to this.
